Linden monthly trade limit question

Ok morning all..I have a quick question..Im only about 6 days old In game and am trying to buy a nice big plot of land. I am a yealry premium member and am having trouble purchasing lindens from the site due to monthly limits. I can have someone in game GIVE me the rest that id need to pay for the land but am worried that even if i HAVE enough money to buy it..linden wont LET me buy it since it says as of now..you cannot purchase this land as it would exced your monthly TRADING limit..am i screwed until next month in buyin big land?

You can buy more Lindens from SLX (www.slexchange.com), or from other currency traders (use the ones recognised by LL). Once you have enough Lindens you should be able to buy the land - unless there really is an in-world trading limit (if so, this is news to me).

You can also ask LL to review your trading limits, but I doubt they would want to do this for a six day old avatar.

yah i put in a ticket about NOT being able to buy any more lindens and they said thats in place for your own protection..but not being able to fully enjoy the game for an entire motnh seems a bit odd...and why dont they want my money lol

I am sure if you offered to buy a sim they would not turn you down.

I think the trading limits (for resident protection) are a bit defunct now that gambling has been outlawed, although it does protect LL from possible money laundering, and possibly you (the credit card holder) from fraud.

Note: SLX will also limit your initial purchases in the first few weeks, but you might still be able to scrape together enough $L if you can be bothered signing up.

Incidently, what is the big rush in wanting to buy "big land"?

two weeks after your first purchase you will be fine, you will then be able to buy 2500 US of lindens a month.

They throttle the initial purchasing abilities to prevent scammers from creating throwaway accounts and performing a variety of exploits that allow you to flip a quick profit if you make lots of accounts that you create and immediately delete after doing the exploit. Forcing you to wait a few weeks before making a major purchase makes it impossible for the scammers to profit from some of those exploits.

yah i put in a ticket..seems that because i did the pay a year plan that my monthly limit of 100 was INCLUDING the 70 bucks due to the year plan ..I talked to them and said that doesnt seem fair that i only get to purchase 20US$ of lindens and cpould not fully enjoy the game until next month..they skipped this months limit for me MERRY CHRISTMAS got my land and couldnt be more happy

Just relating an experience here to you, do with it what you choose.

When I first joined SL last June, I was "convinced" by the friend that brought me in to buy land. I did, and was fortunately able to sell it, when we decided it was time to move up.

I'm now sitting on a 5,440sm piece of land, that while beautiful, is proving extremely difficult for me to sell, now that I've bought yet another piece of land that I thought I'd be able to put skyboxes for rent on...and cannot. This will be a piece of land I'm sure I'll lose money on....hell, I'm going to lose on both of them.

There are a million places in SL that you can rent ...consider doing so for at least a couple of months. Don't be charmed by a pretty piece of land...they're a dime a dozen here.
