I had to re-install Windows on my computer tonight. Therefore, I also had to re-install all the programs I used to have including Second Life. Now, I see where they have the new version with Windlight seperate or at least it seems that way. I went to www.secondlife.com/download to get the old version, not the windlight one and I clicked on the Windows XP version and downloaded it. Once in sl, I checked and it seems like I now have the windlight version as the "search" in sl seems different. I took a look at "all" in the search section and it's different then before, it has all these colorful pictures. I also went above on the screen to "about sl" it says it's the 1.185 version. (I believe it said 1.18.5 or maybe 185) Is this the new version? Because I do not want the windlight version at all. Only way I will download it is if it's mandatory and you need to download it in order to get into sl. Other then this I don't want it. If this is the windlight version, where can I go to download the old regular version? I mean, the old version is bad enough without adding a new version that's worse. It's not even complete to begin with and from what I've read it's worse then the original version. Anyone know anything on this? Thanks

I don't think this includes windlight but it does include a new search doohicky on your screen. Just let us ITs do our job and we will make everything wonderful for you.

Nope, that's not Windlight. The new search is in the main regular client now (yes, 1.18.5).
You have to go to a special download page to get Windlight, so don't worry about downloading it accidentally.

The brand new version of SL as of today has the new Search feature in it.
This does not mean it it Windlight.
When you go to secondlife.com/community/downloads.php you see a
Second Life Installer
Windows 2000/XP: 1.18.5.3 (34 MB)
Mac OS X: 1.18.5.3 (71 MB)
Linux i686 (Alpha)
Those are the current "normal" clients.
The test versions of SL, the First Look client and the Beta grid client, are in the section below that says:
Second Life Test Software:
Test Software Preview new features, see what's been fixed, and take an active part in making Second Life better through bug reports and testing.
Go here to download: Test Software
Release Candidate viewers - optional viewers with the latest bug fixes First Look viewers - preview features Beta viewers - connect to the beta grid
===========
The current normal viewer says "Second Life 1.18.5 (3) Nov 28 2007 13:59:53 (Second Life Release)" in the Help About Second Life dialog.

Ok, many thanks.
I just hope it's optional when they finally complete it as if you can believe they actually complete anything they set out to do in sl. But nonetheless I hope it's optional when it's out. I don't want it.
