Floating Vendor Text

A brothel was built next to my park and the floating text from their vending machines is comming thru their walls and a good distance onto my land. I IM'd the owner of the place and suggested that they move their vending machines away a bit from the common wall or edit the scripts to shorten the distance... I was told by the owner that it's my problem and I should either build thick walls or find a vending machine suppressor, (is there such a thing? If it's free I'd rather get it and just avoid any more hassles).

It is particularly awful at night because the text is bright white. I am getting frustrated trying to figure out where to get help with this. Does anyone know how I can alleviate this pain in the gitzenfrackle?

Where is Teeple! Mail to inworldsupport is bounced now :(

Ugh... People are so freaking rude. We had a similiar issue with land we used to own. This particular woman had all sorts of floating text and objects that shouted on her land, flooding ours with no end of spam.

I have no idea how to stop it =( I recorded all our conversations and just kept ARing her over it.

stick a prim trough the vendor that it just covers the display so she has to move it out far enough s othe text stays on her side

she wants to earn money, she moves it and stick to her land ;)

There really is no fix for this unless someone develops a cure for rudeness and ignorance.

Awhile ago I was faced with a similar situation so I politely asked the owner of the neighboring property to move it back a bit and his response was "What's in it for me?"

What was in it for him was when I filed an AR and LL removed all of his buildings.

That is an idea... I didn't want to have to play neener-neener games with her but I guess I'll have to if there is no help from the Linden staff. Thanks for the idea.

That sounds promising... I don't want to hurt the lady, I just need for her to respect my property rights like I respect everyone elses. Thanks for the post, I thought it might be a violation of rule 6, disturbing the peace.

if they are jevn vendors she can set the text to auto which means when someone is not actively arrowing thru the vendor the text goes away

i set that up on all my vendors so it does not bleed thru to other stalls

Along the line of the prim sticking over your property line into their land idea above, you could put an object displaying text intended to annoy the neighbor.

The problem with both those ideas is that if you then try to get the Lindens to do anything about it you don't look quite as innocent as you would if you didn't do stuff like that.

Is your parcel on a Linden sim or on a privately operated sim?

Yes, I realized that pretty quickly and decided to go to another area and work on my treehouse and check later what happened with unwanted advertising problem. My parcel is on a Linden sim, I filed an AR with a photo and my IM request to the woman and her answer (not her problem).

Update... Inworld support was faster getting the few problems I've had fixed but after filing a second AR (the second one for a shouting 'lucky letter chair' belonging to the same parcel) both problem were fixed. (big smile)

I did away with the text on my vendors when I found them bothering ME and confusing customers into paying into the wrong vendor. Now, I have it whispering what the price is for the objects in it... which might not be better, but until I figure out a wee bit more LSL, it was a compromise.

Maybe offering the person this kind of alternative might be a good idea?

I think its how the texture was applied to the floor. Try tossing in a new hover text script thats blank into the prim and see if that solves the problem. Or you can try replacing the prim and don't drag the texture to the prim.

I had the same problem with my vendors, I hade it so the floating text shows when someone enters the shop now then turns off in 5 mins. It made a lot of my neighbors happy.

At the Particles Lab they have a free script called 'Scrubber' drop that in any prim and it removes most existing scripts, you then just need to go into content and then delete them
