Hi all I am trying to do some comparative shopping for skins.
I am curious how many designers do the built in hair (rather than Bald)
I know of Three - but I would really like to see some others.
I know Chip Midnight makes a couple like that.
Second Skin Labs does on the newer ones.
and Lost does on on one skin type.
--------------------
So let me know if anyone else does?
I'm willing to go examine demos and see quality for myself I just need to know where to look.

They're just drawn on the skins, like every other detail of them.

I have a male skin like that. It came with two versions, with hair and bald. I only use the bald one except when I wear a pin stripe outfit with a bowler hat. The hat doesn't work with any other hair.
So it might be great for hats, but all the ladies would look like Annie Lennox with hair this short! She looks great, but I presume you want more variety. Would the slider hair be used in that case? Occasionally I forget to replace my non-bald skin and the darker drawn hair shows through my blond wigs and makes it look like I'm partially Ruthed. It looks aweful, so you wouldn't want to go that route.

I think it would be good to have a second texture layer available for the head, so you can make painted-on underlayer for prim hair, so that bald patches don't appear when you zoom the cam out.

Generally these skins are intended to provide the "scalp hair" that matches the eyebrows and pubic hair - specificly to combat the "bald spots" that can appear sometimes with non-prim hair or even prim hair when at certain distances. And when wearing a hat, it looks like you have the hair up in a tight bun under the hat, or you can use a prim pony tail or carefully adjusted non-prim hair to work with the hat.
The down side is it makes it harder to change your hair color at a whim. For example, I normally have auburn hair, so my SS Labs skin has auburn scalp hair and eyebrows. But sometimes I wear black hair, and that means unless I am careful in how I arrange it, I have auburn roots showing, like a dye job that's a few weeks old...
It would definitely be an advantage to have an additional scalp layer in the avatar, or an additional layer for makeup that included the eyebrows. Failing that, skin makers who offer both a skiin with scalp hair and a skin that is bald will be worth looking for.

A couple of the free female skins in the Library have drawn-on hair. Look at the clothig folder, and I think the Clubgoer female has that kind of skin (as well as painted-on panties and bra).

The Zoe line at Naughty is a gorgeous black woman who has short drawn-on hair.
[Edit: I THINK it's Zoe. Not inworld now to check. ]

[Edit: I THINK it's Zoe. Not inworld now to check. ] It's Alina. The hair option comes with a bun, because good-looking slicked-back styles are hard to come by and are better done painted onto the skin. But Colette wants something other than this line. I don't know of any, I pretty much stopped skin shopping for anything else because I'm happy with my skins from Naughty.

I've included two different afro hair-styles on the skin layer of my Classic Lines Dark Tone skins. One is a black afro, the other is frosted to go with the older look.
