My friend suddenly had her viewer screen become like a kaleidoscope picture. She was in Second Release. She relogged to the other viewer and it looked the same. She was still able to read im, group notices, etc. She doesn't recall what she did immediately before this happened. Unfortunately I don't have her PC specs. If you want to see a photo of her screen view go to http://www.clubyourdestiny.com/Site/Photos.html I will pass along any suggestions you might have to her. Thanks ! Margareta

could try:
prefs -> advanced graphics -> disable "enable opengl vertex buffer objects"

I seem to remember someone else with this problem... I think it ended up being the graphics card itself. Does your friend know what sort of card she has, and its version?

My screen sometimes looks like that. Very annoying. Most of the time I crash and have to restart my computer to make it work again. Sometimes, though, I am able to stay in, and there is that option in preferences. Not sure if it is the same one mentioned already. I unchecked "VOD" and I didn't have that specific issue any longer. Of course I still get others, like the one where suddenly I lose the chat/IM/top tool thingie . . everything, but I can still move and see . . and take pictures. I just can't talk, teleport (because I can't see LM, or search or . . ).
Oh, and it is, I understand, a graphics card issue.

From: Alicia Sautereau could try:
prefs -> advanced graphics -> disable "enable opengl vertex buffer objects" Especially if the user has a lower end ATI card! I have to do this or occasionally my SL goes all wonky.

From: Margareta Loring My friend suddenly had her viewer screen become like a kaleidoscope picture. I had a similar thing happen once or twice while using ctrl-8 and ctrl-0 to alter camera zoom and thought my graphics card was on the way out at first. A relog sorted it out. There's a mention of a bug causing this in the support pages or the Wiki somewhere. Apparently it can happen if you use those k/b shortcuts several times too quickly. -- Aes
