Seems the view will now crash on start. As too as I start the SL viewer it crashes. I checked out the bug reports and there are tons of crash on start report just posted in the last 24 hours. I'm using the RC viewer which works fine. Some seem to think it might be a URL hijack virus which it seems my virus scanner found last night just after I went to bed and right after I found I couldn't start up SL. I'm not sure is that's the case because my web browsers don't have that problem but then again I use Firefox..

Try reinstalling Second Life. Your anti-virus may have found something it 'believed' to be a virus which may have been a vital SL file.

Been there done that 3 times still crashes on start up. If the Java script hijack virus changed the registry for the URL connection to SL then the only way to fix it is find the REG and delete it or edit it back if that's what happened.

I would suggest that you uninstall once again, then go to the second life folder in C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Application Data\SecondLife (for xp, other OS's may vary). This is where the cache and other files are stored, that do not get deleted when you uninstall. Delete the entire second life folder in that location and then install fresh again.
