I've noticed that for some reason I cannot purchase land directly into my group - this, at times, means I have to buy land in my own name and transfer it to the group - this in turn means for a brief time in a month I am over my land limit and slide into a higher teir level - is this a common occurence, a money earning process for Linden or what?
I have reported it onece before but the result was far from a show of any interest.

As far as I know, it's not common. You should be able to buy for group. From: Tarak Voss I have reported it onece before but the result was far from a show of any interest.
By far the funniest thing I have read on the forum in days. You should do celebrity roasts.

I've experienced that too about a month ago. Just doing Buy Land for Group with the intention to do the donate tier to cover purchase was refused, so what I did was prior to buying, donate sufficient tier into the Group to cover the intended buy. It then went ahead without problems.

Select the "Buy for Group" from the About Land screen, rather than expecting to see a Group option under "Buy Land"? Alternatively, are you seeing some error message when in the Buy for Group dialogue? If SL borkiness is preventing you from buying for a group that has sufficient available tier, why not - remove the required tier from the group, - buy the land for your self using that tier, - deed the land to the group, donating the tier back with the land The group tier will be negative for a short while. Apparently this does not make the sky fall.

I would love to buy some land but I'm completly put off by the Tier system. Just can't pay that level of charge. So Linden loose out from me in the fact I'm not becoming a Premium member.
Just wish the rest of you would stop buying and thus paying it and make Linden think again on the system.
Just look what happens in the real world when we do not buy, the prices drop.
Love, June

There are a couple of JIRA issues that you may wish to vote on if you find them agreeable, these are in regards to the issues with tier. These are: Reduce the divide in tier - proposing that tier levels have less of a gap, ie - people with low tier shouldn't have to pay so much more L$/square metre compared to higher tier levels. Alternatively replacing tier with a flat-rate per square metre: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-765Intermediate tier levels - proposing that additional tier levels be added, rather than requiring jumps of double the land, ie - in between 512 and 1024 there would be a 768 tier: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-792

Maybe a silly question, but... you are wearing the right group tag when you buy for your group, yes?

Only problem I have ever had with this is if I had no available tier in the group. But if that not the problem I have no clue.

Double check to verify you are wearing the correct group tag.

The group must already have sufficient tier donated prior to clicking the Buy for Group button. If not, it WILL fail. There is no way to donate tier during the Buy for Group purchase process.
And, yes, you must have the correct group active.

I'm using Nicholaz over 1.18.3(5) so I may have missed that. Would be a nice feature if they did but not in this version.
