group remake

Hi, I am trying to transfer a group name to someone else (including "founded by". I did a test with having both members leave the test group. After a few days.. when trying to remake that group with another character it says Group name is already taken.

Is it possible to disband and remake a group? If so I would like to know the correct way before I do it on the actual group. thanks

I think the only way to disband a group is to have everyone leave it. So you'd need to eject all members before the owners left. I think . . .

When you first make a group, it warns you that the group name will be shown as not available if you try to remake it later after disbanding it. You have to choose a new name.

Unless LL has changed it, once a group name has been used, it is gone forever. Even disbanding it doesn't open the name up again.

what if Ownership of the Group is transferred to the new Owner by the Founder.. and then the Founder deactivated their SL account, would the Founder field in the Group then be blank?

What I'm getting from your OP is that you removed 'everyone' including yourself (new owner) because you were trying to do a test. Once everyone is removed, the group is closed. Regardless of what happened prior, transfer of ownership, whatever, if you really removed everyone, for whatever reason, it's gone.

A group name cannot be used again. Have both people be members of the same group, give the 2nd person owner powers, then have the 1st person leave.

There also needs to be two members in a group or it will go poof. LL used to give a warning regarding this, that the gourp would soon disappear. Not sure if they still do this or not.

A group name can never be re-used, re-created, or revived. Not even by the original Founder of the group. Once a group is disbanded, for whatever reason, it's dead forever.

The "Founder" of a group remains its founder even if they make someone else an "Owner" and then subsequently leave the group, and even if they delete their account and leave SL forever. The group will still show that avatar's name as "Founder". But that doesn't give them any rights or priviledges. Only being a group "Owner" or being a group member with assigned roles does that. Once the Founder leaves the group, they have no group power or identity remaining, even if they later rejoin that same group.

If Player A wants to transfer possession of a group to Player B, it's simple. Player B is admitted to the group. Player A invites Player B to the "Owner" role in the group, and Player B accepts. Player A now voluntarily leaves the group completely. Player A remains Founder, but has no powers. Player B now owns the group. If Player A wants to re-join as an ordinary member, they can do si, and get no different rights than any other new member of the group.

If you deleted the group, you'll have to create a new group with a new name.

thanks for your help everyone. I didn't delete the group I only modified a "test" group.

You can also, as group founder, request with LL to change the name to the new owner, i know they did that at one time, not sure about now.
