Anyone notice on the new release that you can hide ban lines now? See Torley's video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4ivaPGav0Y&NR=1Click view menu, slide down and uncheck ban lines! I never knew you could do that. He has another video that shows you can hover your mouse over the green and yellow dots on the mini map and see who they are! That's new too. Anyway, this may be old news to everyone but me LOL Handy

I hadn't noticed it, but then I haven't been playing with all the tools. Thanks for the heads up

I've been using the 'check Profile of dots on mini-map' function, but hadn't known about the Hide Ban Lines thing....I'm going to do that immediately. Thanks!

Solving the wrong problem again.
I want "show me banlines no matter how far away they are" so I've got a hope of landing my glider without hitting one.

I discovered the new feature by accident. It's great! I'm surprised LL didn't make a big announcement. It has made a lot of us happy.

I can understand not wanting to see them while at your home, but if you're traveling, you want as much notice so you can change course even during lag. As it stands, it seems like it's two steps before you see the ban lines, which is almost always too late, even when walking.
I want them highly visible.

I want them highly visible. There should be two options: 1. To be able to block the banlines so others/neighbors don't have to look at them all the time. 2. To be able to make the banlines HIGHLY visible so that those flying, etc will see them in advance. I suspect that those two options would be enough to make any traveler happy.

Also, the option to make them visible EVEN IF THEY DON'T EFFECT YOU (maybe in a different color) so you can tell if they're up or not. This is particularly a problem for estate owners and managers, they can't see the ban lines their customers are complaining about.

Isn't it automatically up, if 'no public access' is checked on the land? So could just look there, yes?
Or is there a glitch that sometimes puts it up anyway? If so then, yes, and in a different color, is a good idea.

Let's say you're an estate manager with 15 parcels on a sim, and someone has complained about ban lines... wouldn't it be nice to not have to check each parcel by hand, or to just be able to notice that banlines were up next door when you're visiting another tenant?

Seeing areas from which you are banned on the mini-map would be nice too.

It's already possible to see all banline areas in a sim in advance using a custom mini map. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=873725This shows all banline parcels in red and all public access parcels in green. Using this mini map I fly across the grid without ever hitting any banlines.

How fast and what altitude? What kind of internet connection do you have? Those color changes require an object update from the sim, and those object updates are competing with the object updates from all the prims in the sim coming into draw distance. Plus it's Mono compiled, so it's going to increase your transfer latency on sim crossing. And it can't see the critically important ban lines on sim borders. ... I thought of writing something like that... the code isn't difficult, just time consuming to implement... but decided the object update lag would make it useless for me. If you have a really good internet connection I guess it could work.
