The pull down menu with what look like sim names to the right of the Log In button on the start up screen - what is that? Changing it seems to quickly change the screen picture and also prohibit SL from starting.
If there was a forum thread about that, I missed it. Just curious.

As far as I know it is different servers one can log into, if they have permission.
(I know the beta grid and the main grid are in there)
I am sure someone with more info will be along.

I see them on my Cool Viewer too. Some are the various communities you can join upon signing up I think.

Yeah, those are grids. If you play around and get lost, pick Agni to get back to the main SL grid. Aditi is the preview grid, most SL residents can go there too.
Some of the unofficial viewers use a different list, and instead you'll see Second Life and various outside opensim grids listed there.
If the little menu gets in your way, Ctrl-Shift-G should make it go away.

Perhaps you see the grid drop down menu?
If that is what you mean, you can toggle it on/off by typing CTRL SHIFT G in the login screen.
Choose Agni for the main grid, Additi for the test grid, then log in.
