I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to log off as one avatar and log on as another without completely quitting (which closes the application) and re-opening. Is there any way at all to just log out but keep the SL application open for the new log in?

Thanks in advance!

Don't think there is a way.
As an alternative why not have two shortcuts using the -multiple switch. That way youcould boot up to the log-in screen with different names.

Thanks, Carbon. I was just trying to find a quick and easy way to transfer items between avatars without six different steps. But your idea will at least speed things up!

Well in that case don't stop at the log-in screen. The -multiple switch will let you log on two avis at the same time if your pc's up to it and you can then just transfer items direct.

Does anyone know the changes I have to make in the target line to run multiple av's on the same PC?

Just insert -multiple or maybe --multiple after the app exe command. In my case that is as follows:
C:\Games\SecondLife\1-21-6\SecondLife.exe -multiple --channel "Second Life Release"
