That is my question and I believe the answer is YES!

Just get into the land bussines. LL is the house and they will RIP YOU OFF.

Thank you so much I stuck around to try land. DO YOU WANT TO BUY MY 7 ISLANDS BACK?

THANK YOU FOR STEALING $6,000 REAL FROM ME Linden Labs.

My god how many times am I doing to bend over and beg LL to give it to me?

How come I have not left this GAME?

pfffffffffffffffffft.

And NO you can not have my inventory all you freakin trolls.

It's good to see you Collette. I won't post again to this thread, I already learned, they don't read or they don't listen and for sure they DON'T CARE, and all anyone is asking for is abuse when they point out the *BE EVIL* motto of LL. So sianara but it was nice seeing you!

For some reason I feel like just laughing hysterically.

My GOD

stupid freaking game.

If you bought them within 30 days, you can cancel and just take a $100 hit per sim restocking fee.

I think maybe he already owns them.

Anyone who owned islands but was looking to sell them (or any thing short term) got really badly hurt by this announcement.

Yep. One mainland baron is claiming on the blog that LL just cost him $40k USD. Maybe he should have added value to his sims like Desmond does.

People who own covenant land lost money too.

Since covenant will go for less on the new 1000$ islands ..

I speak from experience when I say that the initial cost of purchase on covenant land is probably already lost. Most island owners dont see it as a purchase - just a price to get the option to rent.
If you can sell it virtually no one will buy it. I sold my island land for a lot less than it cost me and I consider myself lucky I got anything back.

EDIT: To the OP: Life is a gamble, SL is a "Second" Life, ergo Second Life is gambling - Perhaps AR LL?

Actually, "gambling" is apt. Most anything can be gambled on, and as a "game" Second Life is risky. Especially Second Life land, which has fluctuated many times, making and breaking gamblers each time. Yet those fluctuations affect the vast majority of residents in no way they notice.

In SL, land is really a commodity--actually, maybe *the* commodity. Trading in it is like buying and selling pork belly futures on the Chicago Merc: Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. That's a fun game for some...

There's a very simple rule everyone needs to bear in mind when spending money in Second Life..don't spend any money you can't afford to lose.

I use the word/s 'spend/spending' rather than the words 'invest/investing'..because as of lately they seem more appropriate.

Take care..Perre..

except the game is rigged. its not down to chance, or even the market. its down to LL arbitrarily tanking land value.

True, though they let it float for a bit - that is where the gamble is really. In reality it is their system, they never said that they would not do it. I prefer to think of it as adjusting the land value to fit with their business plans.
