I posted this in the Building Forum but haven't received any answers and RA answers questions quickly, so apologies for not posting in correct forum (but I did try correct forum first). I'm doing a very simple build which is basically a square box. I textured the entire build. Next I added some color to tint the wood. Every single face of the build "took" - except the top face. I have tried everything I know to no avail. I am totally baffled. Any ideas why one face of the build won't accept the color and how to correct it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Czari, just to clarify, is the top face of the block not taking the tint, or the texture? If it just seems to be the tint, then the top face of the prim generally looks lighter during daylight settings as it reflects the sun.
If it's the texture, then I have had a similar issue over the last couple of weeks with a couple of things I was building - sometimes textures on one prim / prim face wouldn't take, or would revert back to the original texture seconds later.
I came back to a large build I'd been working on three days earlier and found sections of it had reverted back to their previous textures. Very odd, never seen anything like that before.
The only thing I can suggest is doing a drag + copy of that prim, and texturing the new prim it creates. And if that doesn't fix it, write down the dimensions of the prim and its axis numbers and create a new one.
More lovely SL borkiness! Hurrah!

Try changing the tint in your graphics program instead. The light within sl tends to have this effect on simply using a tint in world.

I'm not sure what the reason for this is.....but I have had that happen when trying to change color of a multiple prim object.......parts of the object wont seem to take the color....or it will sort of blink in and out from original to what I tried to change it to. It's frustrating.....and usually I just try a few times and eventually it stays. The other thing you could try is to make the change.......then take the object and re-rez it.....see if the color change has saved for the entire build. Taking and re-rezzing secures the changes you make so that might wipe out the glitch. Otherwise....I really don't know why this happens.....other than texture rendering info is somehow not being saved and transmitted back correctly. *shrug* My guess is it's a glitch with-in the program....not something you are doing or not doing.

In the build window try clicking on 'select texture' and click on just the top face of the prim. That should show you if it is tinted or not. If not, you can try tinting that one face. If it does show it is tinted then I would say it is the lighting issue. Try forcing sun to sunset and see if it still looks the same.

A while back I ran into some problems with tints / lighting. I had a texture that was basically a greyscale and ideal for tinting. I found the tint I wanted, and did the whole building. At any time other than noon, it looked crazy - every side was a different colour, the changes were drastic and hideous. The only solution was to create a tinted texture on my computer, upload that and retexture the whole building.
Assuming that this is the problem you're having -
As has already been suggested, if you figure it's just not applying the texture, use 'select texture' and compare the top of the box against one of the sides, and see if the tint is actually showing in the edit window.
If not, you can try changing the tint to somethign else, save it, then change it back to what you want. That sometimes wakes up the object so it accepts the change.

Thank you all for such wonderful and quick responses!!! From: Macha Morigi Czari, just to clarify, is the top face of the block not taking the tint, or the texture? If it just seems to be the tint, then the top face of the prim generally looks lighter during daylight settings as it reflects the sun. That's EXACTLY what it was...too weird. Once I changed the world to sunrise, that pesky top face shows up exactly right. If I switch to noon, it goes back to non-tinted, and sunset makes the front part lose the tint. From: Jaci Nightfire Try changing the tint in your graphics program instead. The light within sl tends to have this effect on simply using a tint in world. I'm just a budding builder so not sure how exactly to do that in a graphics program yet...but will be trying to figure that out...thanks so much for the tip!! From: Milla Alexandre I'm not sure what the reason for this is.....but I have had that happen when trying to change color of a multiple prim object.......parts of the object wont seem to take the color....or it will sort of blink in and out from original to what I tried to change it to. Thank you again for all your help
