Why not just sell "contents" from a single prim?

hippovendors are mod.
theres a 1 prim panel vendor (one item) or you can use the one with the arrows and mod it down to three prim.
disabling the floating text is a standard option. theyre networked as well.

three prims... you arent planning to throw these things up on 16's all over the grid are you?

I have a 1 Prim vendor that you can sell more than 1 product. The browsing product is clicking on the prim, the thing is that you can't go back :) but it is for people with prim problems.

Also I have a 3 prim one.

Both have the option to set online/offline reset, notecard configurable and profit split
(not the common profit split but you can specify for each product the percentage
and person you want to split with.

If you're interested IM me in world.

There are freebie 3-prim vendors as long as you don't need networking. Hiro Pendragon's Super Vendor comes to mind, but there are others out there. There are also ones that are for sale, usually ones with extra features. (I make one of these with a "multi-person bulk buy discount" option.)

If you do need networking, Hippovend and JEVN are the market leaders, but there are other makes out there too.

I have a 1 prim vendor for sale, the Univendor - not networked, but pays commission if needed, goes backwards and forwards, and shows previous and next items, easy to set up (no notecards).

Or the 1 prim IntelliVendor - like the UniVendor, but only goes forwards, and only shows current item - easier to customise the look tho.

Of those three, only the first is a point in favor of scripted vendor units. I find single prims set to sale more aesthetically pleasing than any multi-vendor, and there's no scripts to contribute to lag.

As for Oryx's question however, a single prim set to sell contents can only contain one product. Although I prefer a separate sign for every product, most people need to use multi-vendors in order to have all of their products for sale while minimizing both space and prims.

Right, but Steel (the OP) never specified what sort/how many items. If it's one outfit, then sure, why not use a single prim?

Aesthetics are purely subjective. I would prefer having back and forward arrows so people have a clear choice in browsing items. And the lag I was talking about was client side lag from textures loading. I have a small club that happens to be on the sim's edge, right next to two store plots that employ a LOT of textures. It takes a long time for everything to rez and is a royale with cheese PITA. I unfortunately also have a small apartment complex nearby, and one of my tenants that is moving out commented that it was laggy in her apartment.

Note that my sim typically runs at 45 fps and high time dilation. It's not the sim - it's all the gd textures loading. If you have your draw distance higher than 64 in the apartments, that is going to lag you. Inside the club, you're just screwed.

I have done a lot of testing and found single prim vendors out sell multi item vendors the reason is simple they are less laggy more astheticly pleasing and easier for the users to use
