I really like my face and shape, but might want to change the skin on my body only. Can you do that?

Buy a skin from the same maker, but in a different tone, and in the same makeup (face).

Yes of course....your skin and shape are 2 seperate things completely! However...the skin you choose is going to effect the way the features on your face look..... for females this is more of an issue because of all the makeup choices available. The best thing to do is shop around and try demo skins.....there's some really beautiful skins available.
Skin is one of the more pricey items to buy in SL....but a few great skin shops that offer beautiful skin for very reasonable prices are Canimal....Panjen.....and a little place called 'Another Shop' that offers a 32 skin pack for 100L~!! I make shapes and have a body shop......and I offer a few freebie skins......but the freebies offered in SL are limited so even if you find many places that offer 'free' skin......they're going to be the same skins. I tried to put together some of the better freebies to offer in my shop, to at least ehlp get new folks started. Also, one of the nicest male skins happens to be a freebie offered all over SL. Good luck with your skin shopping....IM me in-woprld if you need some help~!!! I have tons of landmarks and I can find just about anything in SL (no, of ocurse I'm not a shopaholic or anything lol) |

Ah....I misread your post.....you'd have to buy a skin that offers many face makeup choices to do what you are looking to do. But again...there's so many great skins available...you should be able to find something that gives you better makeup choices, with a body shading you like~!!

Er, except that the poster, unless I am mistaken, was asking whether it was possible to change the skin on the body and the face separately. Which it isn't. Unless you know somebody who will rip two skins, one for the face and one for the body, and combine them into one skin.
edit: ah yes, noted in the meantime _____________________

would be creepy if you could, you'd have a Frankenstein skin mismatch on your neck.
You can keep the same shape of course, so your face will look liek the same face with a new skin. With practice you can mod your shape to make your new face/skin more resemble your old one, features wise. Another reason why all commercial skins should be mod/copy More and more are no-mod these days. Crazy. |

I thought you could if you had the texture?
01-08-2008 17:21
Well.. I believe if you have the texture, then you can yes. And if the skin you want on all but your face is modifiable as well.
Right click yourself>appearance. Skin tab, and if you see a couple images, then yes you can as long as you have the file of the face in your inventory, not the skin. That works, but probably wont help since most skins are non-mod, and most people don't just have faces lying around in their inv. The face skin is called 'Head Tattoos' Upper body is "upper tattoos" Lower body is "Lower tattoos" EDIT:: Meant body textures..not face.. *cough* _____________________

I would think it would only be possible to change the face if the entire skin was full permission. I tend to just make own skins, face and skins with the sliders, it may not be as nice a skin from professional skin maker but at least I have the control over what I want with my body, face, shape, etc.
