OK, I know that one can pay Premium membership fees using US$, and that one can sell $L and use that money to pay fees with. But does anyone know if it possible to pay for one's membership directly using L$? It'd be nice to be able to have membership fees automatically deducted directly from my L$ balance without having to do a bunch of tedious financial mucking-about to convert funds into US$ first.

Is this possible? If so, how does one set it up to occur?

Tedious? All you have to do is sell your L$ and let them sit as a US$ balance. All fees (tier, estate and memberships) are take from your US$ balance before they come from your outside source like a credit card or PayPal.

To answer your question directly, no.

No, you really do need to sell the Lindens so your US$ balance is sufficient to cover the fees, or they will charge it to your credit card or paypal, if you have them listed with LL.

If LL allowed tier to be paid in L's that would sink appox. 1/2 the currency in the enconomy in about 1 month, (this is calleda sink). If you sell your L's on the Lindex, someone else is buying those L's, hence, keeping the money in the economy.

Thanks for the info, folks. I was asking specifically about monthly membership rather than tier fees, but I gather the answer's the same either way. I suspected this might be the case, so thanks for making that clear for me.

If You are willing to sell you lindens on LindenX of course

The Practical answer is yes you can pay in Lindens. Its just a two step process.

I have always paid my premium and teir fees this way.

But no You cant pay in Lindens DIRECTLY from your in game account. No matter how many lindens you have it will still Charge your CC.

Maybe this has something to do with the fact that LL does not buy your Lindens. LindenX just brokers them to another player.

Yes, that's right. This way it is keeping the Lindens in the money supply of SL, whereas if LL accepted Lindens as payment, the money comes out of the supply entirely, and LL would need to pump Lindens back in somehow at a faster rate.

I would want to make sure that members fees are guarenteed through an outside source and not dependent on my software. huh? cmon it would be easier to pay via lindens. They take from your credit for inworld Linden purchases. I put aside 2 months worth of land use fees crediting my sl account. They took from that balance when purchasing additional lindens.
