Then install GIMP: http://www.gimp.org/ (which is free)

It's almost as good as Photoshop and fully sufficient for finding, cutting and preparing a dove picture.

I have a "rotate textures" script that I use for making moving water. Will that do?

yes I have that also...but first i have to find the texture of the music box *workings* which has also eluded me thus far...allllthough...Blot has helped me out BIG TIME with the dove one (yay and thank youuuu)

All I can find so far in animated texture form(ie: a moving fragment of a scene) is kittens , breasts and various females in states of undress jiggling...not bad but not quite what im after lol

In a typical music box works, there are really only two things that seem to move, and one of them moves so fast as to be relatively invisible.

First you got the drum, which has turns and plucks the harp to play the individual notes. That should be an easy one to duplicate. Then there's the flywheel that spins around, but so fast that you can't really see it.

I guess you could have the wind up key, and maybe the spring, or a few gears, and perhaps the individual plucked tines on the harp. But when you come down to it, music boxes are simple things and there's not much going on in them.

Flipper's animated gif tool might come in handy: http://www.peregrinesalon.com/anim/

I have seen the actual thing..in another product..and ill be jiggered if I can recall what it was...:( it wasnt a music box mech. perse...but a pretty gold sort of cogs & wheels affair...delicate..intricate...and it moved...maybe the workings of a automated toy, i dont know..but it was in a music box and looked really nice. Ive been thinking harddd all day where it was I saw it and in what...

Take something like this picture, and then make up a 360 degree pattern of dots on a "brushed aluminum" texture in Gimp, tint it gold, and wrap it around a cylinder. Put the cylinder over the cylinder in the picture and set it rotating. Done.
