Can someone know where you live in SL?

I have gotten several security notices from my security devil of people entering and then getting ejected. Some are partrons where I work, but are not my friends, and others are people I have seen, but are still not my friends.

This has happened to me all week, and I am perplexed, how do they know where I live?
The Island I live on is private, all residential only, the only traffic is residents and their guest.

Is it possible for someone to look up my land holdings? And track me that way?

I am niiave, sorry.

Thanks.

Have you put it in your picks, by accident? Or published it in the "find in places" search?

Edit: It's most likely the group in your profile, "Ohana Land Residents". I'm guessing the Ohana sim can be easily searched for your place. ;)

As Novis pointed out, the most common reason would be accidental disclosure (if you ever took a snapshot while you're at home and didn't clear the description before sending it on to someone or putting it on a generally available notecard, or a rental group as mentioned, or putting friends in your picks while you were at home - or someone else doing it, a classifieds ad, etc).

On the more obscure side, there are bots that roam the grid and publish parcel data (including owner) so you could "easily" find where anyone lives, as long as they're the owner of the parcel by name (or you know the group they use) or a keyword in the name/description.

People are strange, when you're a stranger. I'm glad you've got a decent security device. As others have pointed out, there's information in your profile and if you own the land your name is all over that parcel.

If you own private land, deed it to a group, you don't need to make a land contribution on estate land and then people can't see your name on the parcel.

tbh, using the group isn`t to much of a problem, i`m using profiles and groups info to looking creator stores when liking an item and looking where their shop is, easilly done after some practice ;)

You probably have either Groups or Picks listed in your profile that privide clues, if not direct landmarks to where you live.
