SIM Crossing

I have group owned land on one sim and a small piece on an adjacent sim. I created a walkway between the two properties however when I walk out on the ramp my avatar falls through, sometimes catching my under a deck in which I have to teleport out. Is there a way to fix this to where I can walk the walkway without falling through it at the sim borders?
Flying is one option that I have found but more often than not, it will not let my avatar stop flying until half way across the sim, if at all.
Any work-arounds for this would be greatly appreciated.

Teleports and sometimes sitting on an object/poseball will work fine.

Sim crossings are always bad things

Check the back posts in the Building Tips forum, searching for "Sim Crossing". We've covered the topic in depth.

In short, you need a prim on each side that is attached to the linkset on the far side, so that prim extends into the other sim in the same space as the walkway you are trying to step onto. The problem is that the sim you are stepping into hasn't had a chance yet to tell your avatar that there is a prim to step onto, so you fall. If the sim you are *leaving* knows it has one there, you don't fall as you leave.

Answered in detail in this thread:

The bridge that is described in the post no longer exists, but the technique is explained well in the thread.

Before I knew how treacherous they were I'd try to cross sims in my sailboat. I thought my boat was defective as I'd suddenly find myself spinning uncontrollably off into the void.

So young... so naive.

Now I cross sims with the greatest of care.

Slowly... gently... uttering a prayer along the way.
