You have a power outtage, wack the power supply to your PC with your toe (I have) or your electricity runs out... and you're halfway through something? And... you lose most of the work you'd just done because you forgot to save regularly?

I do, and it just happened to me, I was working on listing EVERY parcel at SL5B into the wiki page, I have all the parcels on the wiki page and have spent around 3 hours putting eacu one into the table, and I just lost a LOT of what id done before my electricity went out!

I am going to just stick at it and do it again, it needs doing by tomorrow.

Anyway just had to vent... LOL

This happened to you? Wanna share? Anything similar, but even more stupid happen to you?

I should of learnt my lesson last time it happened, when my PC restarted itself after I was just about done typing up a document... Moral of the Thread: 'Always save regularly!'

: D

omg guess how i got my new computer..

I was so mad at myself for this..i was sitting in sl and my nephew was doing something in the kitchen and i had told him repeatedly to quit and get out of the kitchen..well i heard him in there again and jumped up and started to run to the kitchen and my keyboard cord had wrapped around my foot..it pulled me to the ground and knocked my computer off the stand..
all i saw was a steady orange light on the computer and orange light on the monitor..i knew it was dead..

so a couple weeks later i bought a new one..i keep my cords tied off now..

and yes i hate when the power shuts off for a split second in the house..every time it happens i want to run to the power company and tell them they are going to buy me a new computer if they don't give a warning when working on the line outside..
they just show up and cut you off without a word..there are only 3 houses on our road..take 5 minutes to say hey we are going to shut off the power..

haha yeah, while working on this Event, SL5B, I have been running 2 PCs at a time, working in Second Life on one while one Skype, having meetings and doing emails on the other and the ammount of time's my wires have tripped me up!

I couldn't believe when the electricity just went out, all I could do is sit there in total shock, and try to imagine how much work id lost there's a LOT of wiki code ont hat page, I've been staring at it for almost 3 and a half hours... LOL Listing all of the parcels on 20 sims into a table is hard enough, without falling asleep at the keyboard and having the power go LOL

Ah well just gotta get on with it! : D

Last time I did it, I tapped the plug with my toe when I had my feet on the post at the back of the desk and turned the PC of : )

that moment when you realize all hope is lost the whole world goes silent and you just think in a coma as to what you just lost..sl was a very small part of my system in that think period..

just the everyday simple things you do online or in your system are gone..
i will say the break did me some good from sl though..

a couple weeks can change a lot in the way you look at it..so it was for the best in that sense for me.
i'm just glad the hard drives lived to get all my things off them..that would have been the real loss..so many pictures and years of Photoshop and god i could go on and on with this lol

When I lose my PC wow I am devestated, not so much for it's content but because It's my connection to friends all over the world! : D

OMG this is just crazy..i thought my monitor or computer was making this buzzing sound for the past week..it started off really low around Monday..
I would hear it then get up and try to find it..sticking my ear to the monitor and close to the tower..
it was always the same time of day..right around now between 5pm to 8pm..
well over the week it got louder and louder but not loud enough to pinpoint until 5 minutes ago..
i stuck my ear to the monitor then hear it and it was above my head..i looked up and nothing there..then moved to the wall and omg I have freaking bee's in my wall!!! O.O

up where the ceiling meets the wall..
Whats next? Serpents rezzing in my lawn?

i swear living in the country the craziest things happen lol

I was at my PC one night last week sometime, heard a really loud buzzing and thought it was a buzz bomb (june bug or whatever) And I shot up, ran away and refused to go back for at least 30 minutes lol, such a wooose! I was so embarressed... coz I was working with Blondin Linden at the time on a table for events and had to run away because of a tiny bug that turned out only to be a fly! >>.<<

Id not last an hour in the country lol

i'm thinking it is these carpenter bee's we have here..they look like bumble bee's but have no stinger..
i'm gonna have to have my BF look at it because we have red wasp here also and the pheromone they have when they sting you is like this warning to all other red wasp that hey this person needs to be stung..

my father had a whole bunch on him one time and came running past me in the barn yelling "Whats wearing me out!! whats wearing me out!! "
he hit the pond and you would have thought Piranhas were on him the way the water was stirring up..even under water they kept stinging him..so he had to stay away from the barn for like 7 days for the pheromone to wear off..

sometimes we will be watching tv and it will flash back to me and i just start to laugh and when my dad ask's whats so funny i start to laugh harder..then he realizes i am remembering the wasp on him and him running past..

his response is usually..just wait one day they will be just as on your ass at that barn missy

Earlier I had an unprecedented incidence of foresight when I was working on a script. I saved it and it said it compiled OK and then just kept on saying it was saving. I copied it and pasted it in a text document and, sure enough, I found I couldn't move, teleport, build...you know the drill. When I relogged the script hadn't saved diddly but I still had it somewhere! Of course, I don't mean to gloat. Just saying for once I saw the danger on the horizon.

OMG this is all so true! lol

I hate when I was saving my textures straight into the 'bin' folder, and wondering where they were going to not seeing that, course I din' know where to find that folder LOL

I brought a cheap UPS that will run the computer, modem and one monitor for around 5 minutes, enough time to shut down or get to the garage and swap to my backup power system.
I also have the DVD recorder plugged into it so I don't loose all it's programming of shows I record.
