Constant crashing

I can log on with my alt and not have any of these problems.

With my main alt I am constantly crashing.
It started a couple of days ago where I would crash after an hour or so.

I think it was yesterday that as soon as I logged on, the first message I was getting was "Script runtime-error, Math error". After doing some searching on the forums and detaching/attaching and relogging many times, ( I would like to take this moment to apologize to the friends on my list that have to see my name popup so many times. :) ), I found that it was the AO I was wearing. I detached it and and deleted it from my SL life just to be safe. Now when I log on I no longer get that error.

HOWEVER, the problems do not end! I have the ghost prim problem. After searching the forums, my answer seems to be taken care of by the unlink and relink method. But the next time I relog something else is ghostly again. :(

Plus, I am still crashing without warning. I am trying to link together my biggest build yet. I know there are much bigger out there, but my 30x40 2 story factory is my biggest. This problem doesn't happen just on the island where I am building, I can crash anywhere at anytime. And I do.

My alt can go/do anything without these problems. My alt sees all the prims on my build, no ghost prims. I don't believe it is the build, no scripts. It is not the sim. It is not my computer.

The question for this Resident Answers thread is, Can you help me stop crashing?

Thank you from one rude American.
I will give you pie.

So, the attachment with a script error wasn't going to be the thing that made you crash. (You might have been able to recover that attachment by resetting the scripts, or certainly get the anims out of it and into a nice shiny new AO, but all water under the bridge.)

It is possible that another attachment is making you crash, but that wouldn't be my first guess. Rather, I'd try deleting the entire cache directory and the character folder for your main avatar (by default, in the same directory as the cache folder), and letting the viewer build it all from scratch the next time that avatar logs in. This will unfortunately mean establishing the character's preferences all over again, and getting all the pop-up warnings and info messages that are intended to appear only one time.

In the worst case, it could be something in your main character's Inventory. But I'm not seeing how that would be likely to affect the visibility of prims, so I'm not expecting that to be the problem at this point. (There are at least three completely different things that have been called "ghost prims," but by your description you seem to be referring to prims that don't visibly rez but are present--you can bump into them, etc, but just this one avatar can't see them.)

At least it's not just me :)

This has started happening to me in the last couple of days... Nothing at my end changed, but keep dropping back to desktop and getting the runtime errors.

Thank you all for your replies.

Qie wins the pie! Qie suggested deleted the cache and the effected avatar folder from the files on my computer. All seems to be working now.

Thank you!

Yay! For others on this thread, just to be very clear, deleting your Secondlife data means deleting the entire folder, which is not done when the client is removed and reinstalled. When you login again, SL will rebuild your local data directory from the servers. You will have to reset your preferences, but it's worth a shot.

In XP the folder is (delete the whole thing):
C:\Documents and Settings\<your userid>\Application Data\SecondLife

In vista the folder is:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife

You might also want to delete as much of the Temp folder as you can.
