I am curious about how common this is. How many of us use part or all of our real name or some variation?
No need to make comments about how you voted, unless you want people to know. I am just curious as to numbers. I know several people in world who have said they used reallife first or middle names for their AV.

My SL name is not linked to my RL name in any way. My husband used his RL first name, but I think he regrets it now. When he first signed up, I think he though you were supposed to use a RL first name and then just pick a last name. It wasn't until later that he realized he could have picked something totally different for his first name.

As I wanted some represenattion, name-wise, of who I am in RL because I see my SL self (my main account) as a continuation of my RL self, yes, I use a variation. My RL first name is Alexandra, and my nickname is Sandy, so it's perfectly obvious how I chose my SL name! Bear in mind that that was in February and I had a hard time already coming up with a decent name at all, before a while ago the Lindens decided to give us some new last names. I first wanted my RL last name reflected as well somehow, but I never found something starting with "V" that I liked enough.
My alt has nothing to do with my RL name at all tho!

The closest I have come to using any part of my RL name was that for one alt, I intentionally created the account to get the surname of one of my ancestors. It isn't at all my name, but was the surname of a great-great grandparent, before that part of the family came to America.

I used no part of my RL name, but I do historical re-enactment as a hobby, and Wulfric has been my name for that for years. The Chevalier I just liked.
