I'm no experienced builder, but willing too give it a go, I intend too build a simple club for land I'm going to buy, is it best to build directly on my land or in a sandbox, link the prims then rez on land. I'v looked in world for pre made clubs, but havn't really found any so I would also appreciate any rough prices from anyone who could build a club or the location in world of pre made ones. Also what are the advantages of buying mainland over estate land? I'm looking at about 4096sq. Thanks.

Build on your land, less griefers. Sandboxes are hard to build on in peace. If you want a bit of privacy, build high up, then move your construction down to ground level.
Good luck Maxx

Build a platform at ground level FIRST, then move it up. This helps you stay within the lines.
For some reason property lines don't show at 500m. LOL

I sent anvil Sarah's notecard inworld that says the difference between mainland and estates. We need a sticky post of that info since it gets asked so much and the answer is a long one.

For some reason property lines don't show at 500m. LOL You can also set a prim in every corner and spaced along the property lines, link them (in sets, because they'll likely be too far apart to link as one unit), and edit the Z coordinate to send them up to wherever you want to build. A friend passed that tip along from a class on building in the sky, and I've found it very useful on a number of occasions.

From: Maxx Borchovski Build on your land, less griefers. Sandboxes are hard to build on in peace. Just noting that even if you build the club in place, you should still take a copy of it into inventory. Things sometimes disappear for no reason, so backup copies are important. In fact, you should take copies of it into inventory periodically while you are building, just in case you make a mistake that can't be undone.

Rather like when playing the type of RPG's like Oblivion, the motto for building is, "Save and save often." Do make sure you turn on the property lines and as one person suggested, use prims along them to make sure you stay within your land.
