Tired of having so many "dead" music links, I decided to update them just hours ago.

I tossed some 50 which were no longer functioning and what remained is listed below as a gift for my friends here. Do with this what you will including copying/pasting to your media player, using in Winamp (free from SL), and re-ordering the stations to suit yourself.

This list follows the order of preference of my loved SL wife and partner who is a wee younger and much more attractive than your author. ;)

NOTE: A new SL News station is included as the first entry.

Enjoy!

oooh awesome! There's a big space station up around 500 m in the Spinach sim that sells a list of streams (some of which are very cool) for like L$5 or something crazy small like that.

Thanks so much! I was just going to turn music on for the first time, and had NO idea what the URLs might be. Anyone else think this thread should be stickied somewhere?

Shoutcast.com has a searchable directory of active radio streams. I'm sure there are other databases as well.

Any tips?

Me too. I was trying to get radioio Ambient back by using shoutcast but got completely confused.

Any shoutcast experts?

And thanks to the OP for sharing!

In I tunes :

1) select the radio station you want to hear. The station your listening to is highlighted

2) under file ( top tool bar) click on "get info"

3) A window opens, the last thing in that window ..at its base is "Where" followed by a long and difficult to read addy.. click on it - left mouse button, you copy the URL...

4) open Internet explorer or similar.. paste the addy in and select GO...

5) if there is a PLS file associated with that station a download window will open "do you want to save this" and in the window it will say the name of the station PLS file..
You want the pls file.. so save it.. to your desktop or somewhere easy to find..

6) Open the PLS file you saved.. in it will be the address you want.. here is an example..

[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://222.122.131.96:8000
Title1=(#1 - 97/300) * H A P P Y D A Y * Contemporary Instrumental [ http://inewage.com ] HAPPYDAY New Age Mixed Chennel
Length1=-1
Version=2

The addy =
http://222.122.131.96:8000
some may have more than one address inside...

NOTE this method is only easy if the addy is direct from the station.. else you get taken to shoutcast.. and no download pls file is offered.

Maybe I could stick these all the SL History Wiki, since that seems to be the general knowledge wiki (as opposed to the actual SL wiki, which is terribly techie geek). That way whenever anyone finds a stream that's been discontinued, they can just let me know and I'll edit it out, or add new ones. What do you guys think?

Great list, I just did an update and added a nice mixing board to my club so that the live musicians could use it if I couldn't get on or other issues...it had 55 good ones in it but WOW is that a nice list /me bows down :)

and a side not e I use winamp to get the URL of stations, click on file properties and it will display a copy and paste URL ... any one not using anything but winamp (on PC) is wrong lol stay away from windows media, and boy can I tunes mess up your stuff ...grrrr I hate that I need it to load the pod up :(

What a great list...thanks for taking the time.

.........I personaly prefer to use Foobar......its free, reliable and has a great sound.....its not designed to be nice to look at....although you can skin it if you wish, it gets a bit geeky after that..It is apparently the choice of Hi-Fi buffs..it also plays files in the Flac format..although SL is not up to that quality yet!

.........I have compiled a collection off my hard drive and use my laptop as a server with shoutcast..I wanted to live DJ in my club but I am not clever enough to get it to work...(any advice on that one would be appriecated).

.........If you want to have a listen to my mix of 50's to 80's ish please feel free...

http://86.3.23.89:8002

..........I run it from about 06.30..UK time untill about 21.00.....then I go to work and take it with me...the laptop that is...lol!
