Do people ever sell their accounts, as a way to get something for their "no transfer" stuff - when they start a new storyline?
I am a Gorean Panther and a BDSM escort. So, amongst my no transfer items are an expensive skin/shape, several hairs, lots of outfits, Gorean weapons, Gorean outfits and disguises. This adds up to about 25000L.
If I decided to do something else, maybe I would sell my account on ebay or something. If I have my membership paid for a month or so, can I delete my payment information, and give somebody else my password so they can take over the account?

From the TOS:
2.4 Account registrations are limited per unique person. Transfers of accounts are generally not permitted. Linden Lab may require you to submit an indication of unique identity in the account registration process; e.g. credit card or other payment information, or SMS message code or other information requested by Linden Lab. When an account is created, the information given for the account must match the address, phone number, and/or other unique identifier information associated with the identification method. You may register multiple accounts per identification method only at Linden Lab's sole discretion. A single account may be used by a single legal entity at Linden Lab's sole discretion and subject to Linden Lab's requirements. Additional accounts beyond the first account per unique user may be subject to fees upon account creation. You may not transfer your Account to any third party without the prior written consent of Linden Lab; notwithstanding the foregoing, Linden Lab will not unreasonably withhold consent to the transfer of an Account in good standing by operation of valid written will to a single natural person, provided that proper notice and documentation are delivered as requested by Linden Lab. |

Plain English version of the ToS:
You can sell the account, provided you get written permission from LL first, which should be routinely given unless there are issues relating to that account (yes, the body text in the ToS disagrees with the header for that section). I'm not personally aware of anyone who has tried to sell an account. _____________________

The impression I get from that somewhat contradictory wording is that, while they may do it, they don't encourage it and they'll probably make you jump through a few hoops in order to get permission.

When this has been asked before, LL indicated that the only cases where they would allow someone to transfer an account to someone else was in the case of the actual real-world DEATH of the original account holder, with their will stating that they wished the account to be transferred to a specific named heir. I am not aware of any case where they have actually allowed this sort of transfer.

If sl eventually allows a name change it may be easier to start a new life in sl with the same account .. Also with the unverified and verified issue what is to stop a verified person from selling their account to an unverified person?

Plain and simple you can`t sell your account. TOS does not alow it. But then again I seen this happen countless times even thou its not allowed. If your a big spending person you can sell your account and get alway with it. Seen it happen, or better yet they allowed then to switch or change their names.

5.9.07 was the 30th anniversary of the 5.9.77 Grateful Dead Buffalo show completing an epic three day run (Boston and Cornell preceded it).

Speaking of near death experiences, I noticed Chaos B. was not on the forum today. Wonder how long of a suspension he received... Actually he was up til 9am on Saturday morning. Was pretty civil in his posts. I'm guessing he's realized he's f___d up and is hoping to make good before Monday. As for selling your account, I'm sure there's a way to work around the system and figure out a way to transfer it but how easy would it be to find a buyer? Even though they may save some money, half the fun is starting from scratch and building your own identity and inventory. _____________________
