How about a forum page for people to announce leaving SL or being sick, on holidays?

How about a "no replies" forum where people can just leave a short 1 line note like "on holidays 14/4 to 5/5" or "had a car accident", "can't get inworld" etc
For people in groups etc who wonder where they went.

There used to be one called Announcements but LL did away with it a long time ago.

There may have been one called "Announcements" for use by users, but I don't really think so; my memory says that if there was a forum called "Announcements" that it was for posts by Linden staff.
There was a "personal announcements, happy birthdays, get well, etc." forum called "Bulletin Board".

It would be a good idea. Since Katt Linden is in charge of the forum facelift, you may send her a PM pointing her to this thread with your idea. Can't hurt to suggest it.

I just wonder how long each thread would get! If someones able to take a few minutes to post here saying they're sick etc, couldn't they just send a group notice just as easily? Of course, some might not be able to get into SL, but I mean in general.

Maybe we ahould have a separate announcements tab in our profiles, in addition to our SL and RL profiles. That way people would be guided where to look for info on an absentee.
