so on my island its a pain to talk to people. I want people to be able to be heard all over the island. Is there a way to set a client to use shout or something?

Um, let me tell ya...if you create a "shout" type island...I know of about 50 people who would never set foot on it, even if ya begged. Shouting objects and avatars are annoying, specially if you want to live there.

The simplest way to shout is to hold down control while you hit enter after speaking....

Sentences goes here then control-enter

I agree with honey, I don't see the point of spamming the public channel with shouting all the time.

On internet there's something called Netiquette. It's a set of rules that people should follow to become a good internet citizen.

FOR EXAMPLE THIS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING, instead use lower letters. Just use capitals when needed.

The main rule is: Rember that there's a Human in the other side.

There's another rule that can be applied to sim owners: Don't abuse your power.

So, instead of shouting all time, you can find lot of better soultions:

IM's

Conferences

Group Chat

This avoids unnecesary chats on public channel that can bother, with a fundamented reason, to some people.

They do sell scripted items which will shout everything you say.

SO possibly thats an option.

But it is annoying when that person is right next to you since you get each line in chat AND the object shouting

so it would be like

me: Hello
my object shouts: Hello
me: how are you?
my object shouts: how are you?
me: dang this shouter is annoying isn't it?
my object shouts: dang this shouter is annoying isn't it?

Look into chat repeaters. Its a great way to extend chat beyond the 20m distance to specific areas where its needed, without annoying neighbors or private areas.

We use them at the Shelter because of our odd parcel shape, and to discourage shouting.
