Hiding IMs and general chat from screen

Hello,

Is there a way to stop IMs from showing up on the chat window at the bottom of your screen? I'd like to keep them inside the IM box only. There was a way to do this before, but it seems they patched it away.

If its possible to hide the global chat from popping up, that would also be good.

Thanks!

Take a look at the Nicholaz viewers, they use UI's comparable to the old UI which might help you out.

I actually just found a way to do something for this that would work but isn't ideal. Open your "history" button (located next to your chat button), then move the menu to almost off screen, basically just leaving a corner showing so you can grab and move it again later.

I found it because I was in a place that was extremely spammy with the green text, no one I knew was there, but I had business to take care of there.

That's a great tip, Abba. Works well with regular chat. Doesn't seem to work with IMs, though. Never heard of that viewer, Katier. Will check it out!

Thanks to both of you for replying!

In Preferences, on the Communication tab, try unchecking the item for showing IM in chat history.
