Is it true that the forums will be going away to be replaced by the new and improved Blog/Flog redesign?
What will happen to all of the current content? I'm especially concerned about some of the stickys in the texture forums. I would hate to loose some of that information, especially the posts by Chosen Few and Robin Wood.
I think the new Blog/Flog, whatever it's called is confusing and hard to navigate. I get lost in it every time I try to find anything. Anyone else having this kind of experience, or am I the only one?

On the page where it was unveiled there was this response from Catherine Linden: . We are currently designing new forums and discussion groups using the same software we use for the blogs but we have no plans to cut off access to the current forums. When the changeover happens (no date at this time btw), we'll link to the old forums as an archive so that everyone can continue to reference. The whole page is interesting reading, since most of the problems with SL Answers were pointed out right at the start. |

The good news is that you don't have to accept LL's shoddy substitute for these forums. There are a number of good alternative forums, each with its own flavor.

you can see how popular the new thing is in the commerce section. The merchant's forum hasn't had a post in 24 hours and it has been over an hour since anyone posted in the main commerce forum. It is all very controlled you know. Only positive happy fluffy posts wanted and all that.
As for the second life answers it seems to be nothing bu answering the tales of lost inventory with the same 2 links and adding character test to the pleas for help because they are a permanent gas cloud. There are other forums not controlled by LL to migrate to. Twitter is actually becoming sort of entertaining for #Secondlife. |

Notice, too, how long (on average) people having problems have to wait for an answer. Especially as compared with the quick response times we have here. To state the obvious: a LOT of knowledgeable people stay logged on in THESE forums for long hours---because they have fun here. The new system seems to have been designed to be the opposite of Fun and Attractive and Functional. Consequently, people log on infrequently and for short periods of time--meaning those hoping for help have very long waits. (Sometimes you can't help wondering if there actually IS a conspiracy to destroy SL among those making the decisions...) _____________________

So that means that sometime between now and the end of the year maybe, they will suddenly just disappear or no longer allow posting -- without any more warning that what we have already been given.
