SL Halloween 2009 - What will it be like? (^_^)

Considering the new Adult guidelines and the apparent new strict-ness on horror, gore, and extreme violence; what do you think will become of Halloween in SL? (^_^)

Consider, even family theme parks abandon their roses-and-daises appearance for the holiday. All but the most extreme religious nuts enjoy the good freakshow that comes with All Hallows Eve. (^_^)

What will LL do about it? (^_^)

What rumors have you heard? (^_^)

Will we all be relegated to wearing smiley watermelon costumes? (^_^)

I think we will be regulated exactly like we are now

Mature for most and some real scarey stuff
Adult for shameless gore

A dark night, a dangerous foray into the land of the spirits. It's got to be adult. I never can understand the North American desire to expose themselves to All Hallow's Eve and the night the graves gape wide. I stay at home and I lock my door.

Better we wait until it's just that tiny bit colder, and then set fire to a stuffed straw Guy, while throwing coins at small children?

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

SL Halloween?

I thought EVERY day in SL was halloween??????

At least to me it is!

I went to a few sims for halloween on SL last year some were cool as the whole sim was done up but others were little skyboxes with cheap ghosts poping out of walls... I do like to explore haunted houses in SL...

BUT
.. I actually like halloween rl much better because being skyclad and dancing around the alter is much more fun RL when calling the dead ..
now where is my pie.

Who cares what Halloween is like in SL, because just like RL, we will be overwhelmed with marketing marketing marketing...

(watch for massive notices about hunts at Halloween, and of course, if you watch xstreet, be prepared for the over abundance offerings of witches, and whatnots, all for "our" pleasure.)

my pleasure would be to skip the dang thing altogether, and while we are at it, skip xmas too!

Well Disney's Toontown Online IS the best place to be. Players make black cat characters, the Bloodsucker Lawbots invade & make solo ventures into high cog buildings a cakewalk (and enough Jury Notices to qualify a battle against the Chief Justice)...



... toons trick or treat the shops for money, and as of last year they turn the trees dead and the lamp posts into pumpkins.



Oh and our heads turn to pumpkins too.



November 1st will see a big Halloween parade in Second Life More on that later.

As for RL Disney, I know two families who make a pilgrimage each year to Disneyworld. Must be something up with that...

It will be completely overblown and mostly orange.

Bleh, Disney will outdo SL simply because it will be themed and more tastefully done

LL, however, will do nothing for Halloween. Used to be the sun and moon would change into a jack-o-lantern, but not any more.

Well, I've been putting together a Halloween Carnival. Ideas are welcome.

I have an idea for an 'attraction' but it's frustrating trying to implement it, so far. Oh well. Even if the final event isn't perfect, it's another place to go in the month of October.

It's PG land so it's not too gory or spooky. I don't really like wanting to vomit or my hair standing on end anyway. So it's a good fit.

Oh and by the way it is not 'commercial' at all. Nothing is being sold and everything there as always is free public use, (within the game TOS.)

when it comes to commercialized holidays that lose their meaning, yes I do bah humbug a lot

what ever happened to making your own costume for Halloween, and going to your friends and neighbors, and spending 15 minutes or so at each place while they try to guess "whose kid you are", and homemade treats, and parties for the kids at a local place, and soaping windows (harmless fun, and of course we washed the windows the next day, and it was fun cuz they already had the soap!)
Instead now, people buy the premade costume, no imagination... and treats are store bought candies, pop, chips, junk food, kids at the door you never seen before, probably from the other side of the city... and destruction in the name of "Halloween".


and what happened to stringing popcorn and cranberries, and cutting your own tree for Christmas, and everyone sitting around and watching old favorites on the TV, instead now people buy fake trees (which is good I guess cuz it saves a tree), and plastic decorations, go out for Christmas dinner and of course the kids have to have every toy out there.
(The best gift I ever got at Christmas was a box of rocks...., sounds silly but... my little brother was about 3, and wanted to give everyone gifts, so he took empty candy boxes (the smallish boxes) and put gravel rocks in them, and wrapped them in newspaper and tried to put our names on them LOL

his reason for the rocks, everyone always shook their gifts before opening trying to guess what it was, and he wanted it to make noise, because that was the "funnest part" of the gifts.

I never forgot that gift, we all had so much fun with our rocks

so yeah, I do bah humbug about the so called holidays

Actually around here Halloween is alot of fun.

This is a pretty rural part of louisiana

SO what you see alot of is a farmer hitching a wagon of straw to his tractor (or even yes horse team) and the kids pile in the back with hot cider and goodies. The distances are so far between houses that the farmer will drive a whole wagon full of kids from house to house. Yep the 15 minute visit at each one is obligatory still!

pumpkin pie is an aphrodisiac... that means halloween is adult!

that's not to forget the naughty nuns, witches, vampires.... I say no halloween in SL cuz it's all way to perverted and offensive.

I don't enjoy commercialized holiday crap neither. The whole world's gone mad as far as I'm concerned.

and after all these years (I am 45 it happened when I was about 10 or so) I never forgot that gift.
many gifts have come and gone over the years, but that one always stayed with it... it truly holds the meaning of... it is the thought that counts!
