Hi All I have noticed that with this latest version of sl that any snapshots you take do not save with any 'glow' to them. I have a friend on flickr that has found a way round this by lowering the resolution format but I don't want to have to do this. Anyone else know a way round this issue? I installed the new release candiate viewer to see it this problem was still there with that and it seems to be fixed in that as glow showed up fine on my snapshots. However I cannot even access the RC anymore as I crash on entry every time, so this isn't an option at the moment! Many thanks BB

Clearing the cache and deleting the settings xml file for the release viewer would be the standard thing to try for starters.
You have a title for this thread with the version number of the current release viewer and the word snapshot, but the question being asked seems to be with a crash on entry problem in the latest RC viewer. This may cause you not to get the responses you need.
You can try running older viewers.

Hi Sue
Have tried all those things still no joy, I did think about running the old viewers but each time I tried it told me that I needed to install the latest version to be able to continue??
And you are correct my question probably wasn't clear enough - I have reworded it and hopefully this will help!
Basically I want to be able to take a snapshot and have it look the same when I upload it to my harddrive as when I take it inworld. At the moment the picture looks totally different when you upload it - the windlight doesn't seem to be captured at all in this new version - it's all very flat looking.

Which older viewers have you tried? There's a ton of them, and most of the one's listed at the wiki older_versions are definitely too old to expect to work properly, but most of the time the latest two or three versions listed there will work. Another thing to try for the crash problem is to change the video driver, update it if it's not current, or try an older one. There's a parameter to add to SL shortcuts to make it not bug you about what version you are trying to use, it's the channel parameter. I don't recall the specifics at the moment. There is a jira issue filed for the snapshot to disk not showing glow problem, it's at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8033 .

Hi B, I went looking in the Jira and found an open issue that seems to relate to this, though they have been documenting the problem since before the most recent release. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8033 A work around is mentioned that helped one user, not sure if it will help you though. From: someone Thickbrick Sleaford said "For me, when using a custom-sized snapshot, disabling "Show Interface" and enabling "Constrain proportions" makes glow show up ok. " **edit Suezanne got to the Jira before me.
