Above my shop, I am building a nice skypod rental complex. People can pay their rent downstairs, after paying the teleporter will bring them up, and the security orb will be set. Love the way hippo connects it all together :-)

Now among other things, I want the renters to have their own radio and maybe even TV set. Is that possible without carving out parcels? Is the radio station they receive, the same as the audiostream set on my land? No experience at all with that part.

Now I could also implement a cinema, but I want all renters to be able to choose/change the movie. My parcel is set to the group but not deeded (scared to do so, because I do not want to loose my stats and ranking). The renters will wear group tag. Any ideas?

One more question: Is anyone well experience with hippo doors plugin? My skyboxes have a button inside and ouside that open the door, which slides opwards. The door is part of the linkset. Now I would prefer to use hippo door plugin, but in order to do so, I will need some adaptions. Anyone ever did a thing like this?

Presently you can only have one radio and one tv url on a parcel of land.

Sorry cant help with the hippo bits of your questions...im not rich enough to have that set up, im a pauper and just have the rental boxes ~sighhhhhs & dreams~ :P

do i need to rent a home from you to come play in your holo deck thingy...thats SO cooool!

Mmzzz in that case I might have to deed the land to my group instead of owning it myself, does that influence the parameters of the parcel like traffic and search ranking? Instead of the TV's I could then use the cinema (from same manufacturer as the skyboxes and the holodeck) so people watch there.

As far as radio's I can indeed put up a radio for all users, program a handfull of stations, and hope they will not want to change station at the same time :D

@Faithless: Well I saw the way your rentals are set up, and mine is quite similar. The teleporters cannot be used without being a renter, or being added as a friend by the renter. At the moment though there is a teleporter available that ends in the middle of the omplex (close to the holodeck entrance). The price of the hippo addons is not too steep by the way, after you purchased the hipporent (and web interface if you want that), the teleporters and security devices are priced friendly. The biggest benefit, is that they all can be connected, and you can even set it up so the renter can access certain functions of the orbs.

By using the teleporter that goes to the center of the complex, you can enter the holodeck as well. Join my group (an invite board is close to the moneychairs on my parcel) and I think you should be able to change scenes. The HUD I will drop on you as soon as I am inworld, but /2 holo1 (1 to 25) shoul work as well ;) No need to rent yet, and certainly not for you!

Marcel dear, you should track me down tonight. I can assist you with all of this, and point you in the ($ saving) direction to get set up.

It isn't really necessary to deed the land to group, it's just that whoever owns the land really pretty much needs to own the scripted object that changes parcel audio and media stream settings. So, if you're supplying the radios and TVs, that part isn't an issue (assuming the scripts aren't brain-damaged).

Now, it's correct that audio streams are set per parcel, and that stream applies to everybody in the parcel. But media streams are different. Notwithstanding what's set for the parcel, a script can arrange for separate media streams to each agent on that parcel. So, it would be possible for such a script to control a "TV" that shows the same program to all the people around it, and have a different TV on the same parcel that shows something different to a different bunch of people. (In fact, it could be the very same TV prim controlled by some magic user interface that knows that some people want to watch Gulligan's Island and some people want Masterpiece Theatre.)

Parcel media can certainly support QuickTime-compatible audio streams, too... I haven't played with this, but it could be that a special "multimedia radio/TV thingy" could just use those media stream commands to do everything, leaving the parcel audio stream for "landlord Musak" or something. This might be worth some experimentation.

Shan Bright makes a web radio thingy, where tenants can click on the box inworld and then listen to their required station via their web browser. Not sure exactly how it works, but might be worth a look. There's a link to her store in her profile.
