For me, none. I wear what I like and do not care what is consider "the fashion" in SL.
However, from personal experience - the more it costs, the more crappy it usually looks on me and the more pretentious it usually looks overall. I get more compliments on my freebie finds or that absolutely darling dress that I managed to find for only L$100. _____________________

I honestly don't think I could name one. I can't think of any one fashion designer in SL whose efforts seem to "lead the pack" or that seem fo set the tone or trends that others follow.
In SL everyone seems to simply design and sell what appeals to their own aesthetics, and doesn't seem to care much what the "competition" is doing, as long as no one is blatantly ripping off exact copies of someone else's designs. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

SL is too diluted these days for such things.
Every fashion designer has their clique of followers that love that style. Right now for me it is Fuk'N'Hawt, Ncore, and Linc (Lucky Inc). And none of them lead the pack in that style of revealing clothing. They are all just there together. _____________________

The one place where everyone shopped, I think, was Last Call/ Dazzle. I think people develop a certain style and run with it, and thus shop at different places. Zaara reminds me of Last Call in a number of ways, though, and it's very popular.

The designers that use the shrooms or LSD tend to create the items I like best.. so I always have to check who is on what to know where to shop..

Although I'm not a huge fan of the place, I would have to say Armidi for a number of reasons. They have good brand recognition, with quality products and great marketing for those looking for realistic rl clothing.
There are tons of smaller clothing businesses on the grid with better products, lower prices, more diversity of styles and less lag than shopping at Armidi, but most don't have the name recognition on the grid that they do. From a marketing and business perspective, they've done a good job with scooping up smaller talented content creators across the grid and partnering with them under the Armidi brand. They also have made good use of technology such as the ability to shop/buy and read stuff like style tips etc on their website as an example. However, just like in rl, fashion can be really personal and the level of diversity in virtual worlds just dilutes the market even further so it is difficult for one brand to really stand out and be the sole arbiter of style on the grid. Despite these circumstances, I'd have to say Armidi is up there in terms of their influence on grid fashion. _____________________

I'd tend to agree with Joshooah about Armidi. They definitely have that brand recognition going for them.
My favorite place of late has been Aoharu, but they don't quite have the branding that Armidi does. The thing is, those places don't have everything. For instance, my favorite blue jeans (by far my favorite) come from Rockstar and HCT. Point being, is you have to go to many places to complete your wardrobe. I don't consider one place to have the monopoly on a complete style. Actually, I prefer not to wear entire outfits from one place. I like to mix and match a bit and get a fusion of styles. I suppose if you are looking for influential places though. For men, MADesigns is definitely one fo the premiere places for fashion. |

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

They've done a good job of bringing together a bunch of male clothing content creators under one roof for one stop shopping. There's certainly more high quality clothing out there for women than men but MADesigns have definitely had an influence on changing that perception and making it easier for guys to find nice stuff. I'll often send guys there that ask for recommendations but personally, I like to tp around the grid and hit up smaller or less well known places, but that can take some time and research. _____________________

Bare Rose and Pixeldolls, just based on the sheer number of people I see with BR or PD outfits on.
What, that's not "fashion"? It's what people wear. _____________________

I like the fact that there is so much diversity in SL that I have never yet shown up at an event or gathering, and found someone wearing the same outfit that I was! Not even with my best friend, and we like the same kind of clothing and shops.
Variety, variety, variety. There are so many creative clothing designers in world. And it is so easy to mix and match pieces of outfits from different outfits (and designers) and come up with a look that is uniquely your own. So rather than look for the "most influential creator or Fashion House" I'd prefer to look for suggestions of creative and unique designers! "Influential" is like following the crowd. I don't want to look like everyone else! Good thread though - I'm hearing some of my favorite stores mentioned here. ![]() _____________________

Bare Rose presents a good model for high-volume, low-cost clothing, and for fantasy wear. Redgraves' skins are popular for photo-realistic skins. Armidi has a huge presence with regard to well-done, realistic attire. PixelDolls consistently has high-quality, dressy, fun, and sexy clothes. But I doubt any one seller can be called "the most influential", given how many options and much diversity exists on the grid.
Personally, Munchflower Zaius's Nomine has been hugely influential. Her skins are so beautiful that I frequently create outfits around them. |

Like a lot of people, I tend to mix and match from different designers and outfits. My Jareth the Goblin King avatar wears a jacket from Lapointe, pants I made myself, rings I found on a treasure hunt, a shirt from Rfyre, and riding boots from god knows where.
I can say I buy a lot of Avid, Little Britain, and Lapointe, but I don't restrict myself to any one designer. If someone has something I like, I buy it. _____________________

The movie? Probably not. You can probably find something similar to the castle. I haven't looked for anything Escher, but it might be neat to see. The Temple of Bowie is running sometime in August. I can't remember exactly when, but it's in search. _____________________
