Hiya!
I'm looking for any information and/or photographs on the following 2003 era locations
Lindenberg in the Tehama sim.
The Lindenball court in Tehama
Lonely Island between Welsh and Clyde
The Amphitheater in Clara
The Boardwalk in Varney
The Model Homes in Varney
The "Mysterious Ruins" in Rizal
Wild West Town in Oak Grove
The Boat Park in Natoma
The Disco in Da Boom
Wiz World in Mocha
Little Tokyo in Sage
The Superstore in Zoe
Venice in Bonafacio
Shots in the dark, no doubt, but I'd love to find out about these old locations, and compare to what is there today.
Edited to add: I've already pretty much mined the old slhistory.org/Second Life Wikia information.

Unfortunately, the link in this is broken, but perhaps contacting the OP or the person who took the photos:

Back when the post was new, I got some photos off of it for sims where I still own land. One showed my very first "build" in SL. I use the term loosely: it was a hollow sphere in which to change clothes, made as a result of coming out of appearance mode and finding a male avatar just staring at me.

I recall that thread, an had been hunting for that site. Sad to hear it's gone. I'll try to track down the person who took the piccies. An ya, it's actually quite interesting to look back on what once was. In SL, we tend to lack much in the way of "historical ruins." Hard to always get a sense of what was.

Is it possible to search the Internet Archive (the Wayback Machine) for an arbitrary search string? I seem to recall that you have to know an old url to look for rather than being able to search the contents, which greatly reduces it's usefulness, but if that's not true, perhaps there's some info to be found there.

Good luck with your search Marianne.
This is one reason I've taken some pix of the empty land at Zindra, putting the coordinates in the pic title. I hope a lot of people will do the same.

This is one of the reasons I do my exploration as well, though for obvious reasons will not be doing the same with Zindra. I've done some hunts with the wayback machine - it's a great way to look back on old "secondlife.com" pages, even before the URL was owned by Linden Lab.

From: Marianne McCann Hiya! The Amphitheater in Clara
Well I have some knowledge of all of the listed builds but the Amphitheater is something I actually visited regularly and remember fondly. It was located at the corner of Clara, Boardman, Kissling, and Perry. My first land in SL was located just a short walk away in Perry and my first ever store was literally right next door to it. When I hit SL I didn't go through any sort of organized welcome area or tutorials. I simply hit the grid running. I found some land (practically free land everywhere) and settled in. I built a bunch of little things and explored my local neighborhood. The world seemed really big then even though it was tiny. I would wander over to the amphitheater often thinking it was probably the center of Linden/community relations. I imagined that the Lindens would regularly meet with residents there and include us in the sculpting of the new world. I think I actually only saw a couple of events there. The stage and amphitheater seating were all built with smooth concrete textures. It was a well done build as I recall and would probably still hold up against today's standards. Something that I recall about the theater was that it had lights. Yes every stage in SL has lights, we have lots of ways of implementing lights, and lights are generally not a big deal BUT back then there were no theaters, I don't think we even had "bright" prims. The theater had spotlights that shone down onto the stage and little light control boxes to the side of the stage. You could turn on the lights, change the color, just the basics. They were pretty cool. They inspired ideas. I think the Clara Amphitheater was made by Eric Linden. Parts of it were copyable and way back then I took a copy of the original spotlight control panel. It lists Eric as the creator. At some point the Lab decided in our young world to remove a lot of their presence. I guess those older builds are long gone now and it's kinda a shame. Later they changed direction again and began building all over the place but there was no restoration of what had been. I have considered buying the original Clara plot and rebuilding the Amphitheater but it's not for sale and the current owner seems to be having a marvelous creative time. Maybe someday right? Someone who may have a bunch of information about that period especially concerning Clara would be Teeny Leviathan. Ok enough rambling. I'm sorry I have no pictures but I'm sending you the Light Panel Mari. I hope you enjoy it's historical quality.

The "Mysterious Ruins" in Rizal
This was my build and it was located in Perry if I remember correctly. By today's standards it wasn't really all that much. It was very early on in Beta and I was just starting to upload some of my own textures for things.
I think the reason why people liked it so much at the time was because it was just a little different from all the box houses that were all over the place.
The whole site was sunk down to just above the water line. This restricted the views so to hide a lot of the buildings that surrounded the site. There was a secret chamber hidden under the pond.
I've seen a lot of the other builds listed here as well, still have a landmark for Lonely Island. I should go take a look at what's now.
