As you may have figured out, we don't really support camping. Just use the popular places in the search. If you want to dance for nickels thats your bag.

In the event that we did all like camping the last thing we are going to do is to publicly announce the best camping spots as that would be foolish. So if I were you I wouldnt get my hopes up about getting the response you want from your post.

Jennihottie, I'm afraid you're going to get a lot of pretty sarcastic replies, even though this IS the right place for your question. You see, almost all of us are having WAY too much fun doing other things in SL to spend as much as two minutes camping. The few of us who do camp are using alts or bots to do it for them...and if THEY know where the best payouts are, you can bet they have an avatar sitting there already, and aren't about to tell anyone. The very best advice I can give you is: stop camping. Buy some Linden dollars with your credit card or PayPal. Camping pays so little that you actually spend more in electricity to run your computer than you make doing it...whereas $20 spent on Lindens in SL will get you days and days of shopping fun and leave plenty left over to tip the DJs and performers at all the parties you'll go to in your new outfits. And don't let the sarcastic replies scare you off...welcome to the forums, and stick around. We're really not such a bad bunch. Mostly.

Or contests, thats a fun idea as well. Check the events, add yourself to a few spam groups. Follow the dance party contest ciruits. Many clubs give away serious cash every night for the best _____.

If there was one single piece of advice I could give new people it would be, "For the love of all that's reasonable, don't waste your SL time camping!".
If you can't or won't use your credit card, try trivia or costume contests, or freelance stripping. Either is way more fun and pays tons more than camping.
Or get a hoppy-pay HUD-it's at least as good a pay rate as most camping spots.

(btw,im sorry if this is in the wrong place, please redirect) I'll not poke at you in a public forum for asking where the best camping places are... nope, I'll wait until I see you scrubbing a floor inworld, and poke fun at you *there*. mwahaha *ok, I feel bad now. hehe ... best Ive seen so far is L$10/hour, thats not so good. Best to just fork up US$10 for Lindens and be done with it.*

When I was a new resident, I used to camp, and it's not like camping is a shameful activity. It has some negative effects on other residents in the sim where you're camping, but that's not the camper's fault, it's a decision made by the sim or parcel owner. And a camp pad isn't a bad place to script (as long as one remembers not to test a script that makes one stand from the camping prim--as with pushing the Editing Appearance anim on one's avatar ). Sorting Inventory is another thing one can productively do while camping (though rezzing stuff is usually limited to attaching it, so... have to get over the embarrassment of waving a house from the left hand). But back then it paid a *lot* better than it does now. What that means is that campers (and camping bots) are willing to camp for much less than before--supply and demand: there's just way too large a supply of campers. And campers are competing not just with the multitude of other campers and campbots, but (economically) with trafficbots, which cost the business owner practically nothing to run. The point is, whatever we may think about the efficacy of camping for businesses, the advice to campers is going to be the same: plan on doing something else, sooner rather than later, just because the payout is shrinking with no floor above L$0.

I camped a little bit when I started but even back then I found it too incredibly boring to stay for any period of time. I was lucky to find a sandbox with a little orb that paid out small amounts and I ended up learning an earning at the same time. That place isn't around anymore. As for camping I can't tell you any good payout areas but you should try using the search with certain keywords like "4L/10min" or whatever rate you would like to earn. Maybe "6/10" which means 6L per 10mins. Places sometimes put their camping rates in their advertising like that. Also try money trees. Try finding a money tree and find out what their specific name is and then try a 'Search All' for them. Someone mentioned club contests. That could be fun too.

Jennihottie, Not that I want to encourage camping...and this one sounds too good to be true, so there's probably a catch...but I ran into this ad over on SL Exchange that might interest you. http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=54872ps - I would have sent this as a private message, but you don't have that option enabled in your forum options. Check the User CP link on the left side of the forum title bar.

When I was brand new to Second Life, I loved camping. Before I went to work, I woudl log in and park my avatar on a camping pad. I'd come home 11 or 12 hours later, and there my avatar was, still camping, and maybe had close to $100L from the deal. I thought that was pretty cool. Then before I went to bed, I could park my avatar at another camp pad, and when I woke up in the morning, I might have another $50L or more.
Making money while I seel, now that's the Dream!
I must have come to Second Life in the last glory days of camping, though, because after being here for not too long, less and less camp pads would just let me park for 12 hours straight. Most camp pads now require periodic interaction, so they are no longer things you can do while being away from the computer.
I suppose that some people camp not necessarily because earning the equivalent of 1 cent an hour is appealing. However, for a purely virtual world, there is some sort of excitment about keeping your virtual income completely self-contained. Probably a short-lived excitement, but yeah, I get it.
With payouts going down and effort going up on camping, it does seem like a boring endeavor now. If you have to pay attention and click every five minutes, I'd think it's more worthwhile just to spend a dollar and purchase on the Lindex if you need the Lindens.
Geez, if you have a fun reason to camp, do it. There are places that tie camping into social activity. If you can do it without effort, do it.
If you're doing it for the money only, though, you're not going to find anything worthwhile. It's just not there anymore.

Trouble with Camping is, even at the best rates your actualy spending more RL $ for the Electricity to run your computer than your making in $L ... you actualy are better off buying Lindens and turning off your computer when not actively playing SL.
Better to get a job Dancing/Hosting/DJing in a club or modeling in a store... the money isnt all that much better but at least then your socializing with people and having some fun....
