Hi All
Bought a few animations other day and they just do not work
Read the instruction applied them nothing
Poseballs appear , sit on them and guess thats exactly wot u do sit.Sounds cool BUT
they r couple poseballs and thats what we both end up doing sitting
They r suppose to be 1. walking hand in hand
2. walking arm in arm
3. slow dancing
cost a couple a grand for this lot absolutely useless
Can u return em NO
Can u notify seller NO
we supposed to get ripped off n no recourse
Anybody else had these sorta probs

3 things come to mind...

1. Are you using them on land that doesn't allows scripts?
2. If you normally wear an animation override, switch it off. Your overrider animations may have a higher priority than the pose balls.
3. It maybe a problem caused by Havoc physics. From what I understand, I'm no expert though, a number of animations are having problems with recent upgrades.

If you've tried to contact the seller/creator, give them time to respond. RL often gets in the way of SL.

Well I do assume you can notify the seller, wouldn't know why not. But I guess the animations do work, but you have your AO active (point 2 Butch mentioned). That is 9 out of 10 times the problem with animations.
The better known animatiors will not sell animations that give troubles onder Havok4 I am pretty sure, since they have a name to protect.

Probably not, but could it just be lagging?

I have noticed with dance poseballs that sometimes it takes a while for the animation to start after one person sits on the ball. Sometimes my partner will see his avatar sitting in the standard position and I'll see him moving for a while before his machine catches up, or vice versa, especially when SL is laggy.

You've probably already tried sitting a while to see if the animations "kick in" but if not it may be worth a go.

Otherwise, I'd second the suggestion to check whether you're in a no-script area or using another AO.

You didn't happen to purchase those from me, did you? I mean, I'm not the only one selling animations like those, but the list you gave certainly could have come from my store. Whether or not it was me, I have to echo Marcel's question: Why can't you notify the seller?

Sort of on the same subject, but not really:

Someone mentioned Havok physics causing problems with existing animations. Could this be why the Killer Whale I have swimming in the ocean next to my house now has to be re-rezzed everytime I log on to get him going again? This only started happening once I moved to a Windlight enabled viewer. Also, my facelights used to go invisible as soon as they were worn, but now I have to wear them, discard them, and re-wear them before they'll go transparent.

Are those related to the Havok thingy too? If they are, then grrrrrrr. I can't give up that water and sky :(

The Killer Whale problem probably is H4-related, not WindLight. I'm not sure what he does when he goes, but if it's something like swimming in a circle, yeah, there's a known bug that LL thinks they have fixed in a soon-to-be-rolled sim update.

The facelights problem... other than slow texture rezzing to get them transparent, I've no idea. (If that's it, then... well, I wish they'd scripted it to set a regular blank texture alpha 0.0 instead of just applied a special full-alpha texture. But other than just wait-out the texture load, I don't know what else to suggest unless the prims are mod-perm, in which case one could script over the problem.)

I'm a little puzzled about the occurrence of animation problems in H4, though. I can see where a problem might arise with joints that aren't animated and used to look okay but now collide with something. And of course anything relying on physical positioning (like huggers). But most animations I'd think would work--and I've really not seen any problems with any of the ones I own (even including huggers).

Did you send a notecard and an IM to the seller of the animations you bought? I've noticed many business owners state on their profiles to contact them with notecards, since their IM's get capped.

If you didn't send a notecard before, then send one now with a copy of your transaction history or the transaction information. You're not alone with scripted items suddenly not functioning like they should.

Hey!! What hugger are you using, coz the one I've used happily for years now suddenly makes me and the person I'm hugging bounce in each others arms before settling down to the actual hug.

I haven't noticed any other animations borked, but I am a hug-a-ohlic and altho the bouncing thing was pretty amusing at first, it's growing tiresome.

Re, huggers: I'm using some ancient full-perm thing I picked up somewhere called "HelloMultiTool-v6 (hug/kiss/goto/etc)". (I don't otherwise recommend it, since it chats congratulations to itself each time it's teleported or rezzed; the source is mod-perm, so I keep meaning to go in and make it stfu, but hasn't been a priority.)

And I just tried it with another avatar using an Amethyst (Sensations) collar, too, and it was maybe a little slower than the other to commence the anim after moving the avatar, like it was obsessing a bit about being in position, but it sure didn't look to me like anybody was bouncing around.

I don't really know what the problems are in enough detail to guess if it's the hugger or something about avatar dimensions that make this work better in my testing than for others.
