I've been building houses for a while, but never figured out how they get them in the rezzboxes like that...the way, when you buy it, you can just click the box and get a menu to rez the house then save it when you're done... I want that really bad! :)

So can someone please tell me what I need to do to achieve this?

Your other option is the much heralded Rez Faux system made by Lex Neva;

My partner and I use Jack in the Box by Jack Hathor. Outstanding product with awesome personal support on behalf of the creator.

Lex is my scripting hero, and a great contributor to the jira and the Scripting Tips forum. I've also used Rez Faux, always successfully, so I guess this is by way of seconding that suggestion. (Crap. That reminds me: I have to box up a build today. :o )

OMG...I just bought one and followed the instructions for my build, and I mean, I followed them to the letter. Then when I tried to rez the building afterwards, it rezzed all wierd, none of the prims where they were supposed to go.. What am I missing? What are the most common mistakes when using the Rez Faux?

changing something but not resetting the script to save the changes

Then you are not following the instructions to the letter.

The packager has to be out first. Then you drop the anchor scripts in the root prim(s). The scripts then record the rotation and orientation relative to the rezzing box. If you make changes after dropping the scripts, you've screwed it up. If you drop the scripts before putting out the packager, you've screwed it up. There really is no other way to screw it up.

Well that just doesn't make any sense. I really did do it exactly like you say, in that order, I know you find that hard to believe, but it's true. My co-worker had the exact same problem. This time I'm going to try resetting the scripts before taking copies, just in case, because even though I didn't make any changes, I assume there's always that chance that I need to reset the scripts anyway. I'll try it and I'll let you know if it worked for me.

Ok, that absolutely was the problem..now I don't know why they needed to be reset, but they did. So anyone reading this, for future reference, always reset the script before taking copies, even if you didn't make any changes. It doesn't hurt anything, and it'll save you problems.

Thank you all for answering...you saved the day!

Well, let me rephrase: today is unusually bad. ;)

On the scale of (1) being business as usual and (10) being the grid is down, I'd give today an 8 verging on 9.

but business-as-usual generally involves the grid being down...

I've used Rez Faux too in the past but gave up on it. I now just select the entire build and take it as a single lump, then when I want to put it out again I select edit first then plonk it down. Works just as well and bits don't go flying off to lost and found if they acidently poke over a boundry or sim edge when I'm positioning it.

I use rez-faux for all my multipart builds. Other systems are available, but I'm happy to recommend Lex's
