I just recieved my credit process to paypal and this is the first time I noticed it was from Linden Research Inc. When did they change to Research and what are they Researching? Does anyone know?

It's been Linden Research for at least the better part of a year now, if not longer.. but in my heart it will always be Linden Labs

They changed it from "Linden LAB" to "Linden Research" out of hope that people would be less like to erroneously refer to the company as "Linden Reasearches".

They changed it from "Linden LAB" to "Linden Research" out of hope that people would be less like to erroneously refer to the company as "Linden Reasearches". The copyright on the bottom still says "Copyright 2002-2007 Linden Lab" although it's a simple template edit in the board's admin area... Research probably fits better since lab makes me think of some scientest making up some potions!  _____________________

maybe they`ll get creative and take the name from the famous 2140 game, the LC, Linden Corperation and hope they stick with that or else we`ll never reach the final frontier  _____________________

so from linden lab to linden research to what next? linden survey? linden zoo? to just lindens? My Guess? "Linden Marketing Research", since that's apparently what they're researching. "Your Demographic. Your Spending Habits." Unfortunately, since they have been caught fudging the numbers, their research is proving slightly flawed. Maybe they got rid of the "Lab" part because the experiment is over. You CAN get people to pay real money for make believe stuff. Now they are going to "research" how to make the most money possible from the corporations interested in advertising to those people. _____________________

I agree with Pie Psaltery... The Lindens have moved into "How to profit the most" mode. And will continue this next year on an even faster track. Lets hope it works and we don't al lose our collective butts...

I agree with Pie Psaltery... The Lindens have moved into "How to profit the most" mode. I disagree. If LL (or is it LR now?) was in it for profit, then they would mold SL to the expectations of the Residents. IE, they would listen to complaints on wierd UI changes (like the still clumsy SNAPSHOT feature, and the never-to-be-properly-cursed COMMUNICATE UI, or the removale of the status bars to put in a useless, redundant search field). Quite frankly, I don't believe LL has a buisness plan. All we ever see from LL is chaos. No definition of policies, no goals, etc. They do make a very good product (even with all the bugs) but the amount of unfocused resources is appalling to those of us who understand buisness structure. ~Jessy PS I guess I should say I DO agree with Pie. The inflation of the numbers to "lie" about them is one of the biggest thigns shooting LL in the foot. _____________________

They're dodging the IRS. They think if they change the name, they won't be found. This idea is probably a bad one, but who knows. If it works, I'm changing my name to Merquarleyfonk McHoosits-Wahoo (of the estimable Walla Walla McHoosits-Wahoos). They'll never know it's me, and I'll make a fortune by just dodging my taxes.
