I bought an avatar in a store. Before purchase, I right'clicked, Edit, Contents, and it listed several items - body shape, eyes, hair, etc. So I bought it. All that showed up in my Inventory was an object called " the avatar's name) Body Doubles Shape no copy" No shapes or anything else in my inventory. Did a miss something in the buying process?

It sounds like you have a box that contains all those objects. Place the box on the ground and open it. Everything should be inside of it.

That worked, kind of. I was dragging the object onto my avatar, ended up wearing the sign from the shop.
I did unpack it, and selected "Copy to inventory and wear" expecting to look just like the avatar in the ad. All that changed was my shape. There was a notecard that said they had tips for how to get the look from the ad, but I can't find that, yet.
Thanks all for the help.

Search "Worn" and see if you can find the folder the shape is in- it should have the rest of your items and the notecard =)

I found the instructions. It's all links to other vendors who sell the hair, eyes, shirt, pants, skin. etc.
Another lesson learned - the cost of higher education is indeed going up...lol

I had one woman frantically IM me the day of her SL wedding, wanting to know where I had gotten a particular braided hair. I had to run through my shop to find which pic she was talking about, LOL.
