the latest news reports say that many store owners see consumers spending more this year than last year on this day.
Who knows though. I am heading inworld to do my duty there as a Black Friday shopper.  _____________________

Walked into a Staples to buy some printer ink in the afternoon here, and what do I find ~ a 21.5 inch LCD monitor. Last one left. Fancy that!
The ink was 70 USD, the monitor 90. I'll still have the monitor in two months but the ink will be gone. Everyone else here has these glorious big imacs but I've always sort of squinted along with whatever Dell compatible junk I could scrounge up on the cheap. It's really bright and clear, back at the office. So bright that my eyes almost hurt typing this. But it's a good kinda hurt. _____________________

I'm am heading out to do some shopping right now.
I'll be spending $1.17 on a super big gulp refill. Most of my Christmas shopping will be done online. I'll be visiting RL stores the day before Christmas . _____________________

I ventured out to Kohl's in the early afternoon and found it about normal. The store was busy, but no more than a normal Saturday might be, and traffic was not much of a problem either. According to my receipt I spent $99 and saved $249

I will try to avoid any RL store from now until about a week into the new year. I would love to be able to say this. Unfortunately I always forget one or two purchases no matter how though I think I've been. _____________________

Well, either they have one hell of a markup or they really lost money on you. Probably both. Of course Deprtment Stores mark things up outrageously, especially before a sale to make the sale look better, but as a frequent customer, I'm always getting private sale pffers...today I was able to take 15% off everything I bought after sale reductions...a couple of things I essentially got for free. _____________________

To the poor retail peons.. err.. minions who had to work today: I hope no buggies run you over and that you're entitlement whores be light and few. (Though if your company is really great and your medical coverage is good, I'll take back the buggy bit. I'd have rather been ran over by a buggy repeatedly than deal with Black Friday.)

It's a nice way to ease that pain. http://www.charcoaldesign.co.uk/shades Unless of course you meant the weather was bright and clear. In which case I suggest actual shades, a beach towel, and sunscreen.  |

Heh. I bought two pair of slacks and a blouse on a clearance sale, for less than I'd normally pay for one of those pair of slacks. Bought a gift for my RL mate, and the family went out and did some other clothes shopping. Won't get serious about shopping for a few more days yet, and even then, will be keeping a pretty tight hold on the credit cards and checkbook. Money's just too tight to splurge this year.
