has anyone any idea how long it takes for a linden to even look or be assigned to a bug report on jira.
Half the time it seems a waste of time of reporting.

Doesnt seem any point in reporting then does it.
I've not done many about 3, and each one has never been assigned by a linden, and the bugs were not fixed either. |

It entirely up to LL as to what JIRA entries they choose to act on, and which get ignored forever. Suposedly, the more votes an issue gets, the more they should pay attention to the issue. But they have blatantly ignored a number of high-vote issues, or have even closed them as either "Won't do" or "Resolved", or "Duplicate" in spite of the reality being that they did nothing at all about the issue.
In short, it does work in some cases for calling attention to and documenting a serious bug. But any feature requests, requests for changes in how something operates now, or requests for a change in policy may never get acted on. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

Well no, there's a point in reporting it. If it grabs the attention it will be looked at and every report helps, they do look at them, there's just no guarantee of a timeframe.

Bugs on the public jira are discussed inworld at the bug triage meeting, which has both Linden and resident attendees:
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_Triage A "bug triage" is just a discussion where the possibility exists that the issue will be recommended for assignment to LL's internal Jira database. That doesn't guarantee action, but it is a higher level of attention, certainly. If you've worked in an engineering team before, this meeting will be familiar to you. It has both an agenda and a process, and discussions move quickly. If you have an issue you want discussed, show up prepared to participate according to the rules of the meeting. . |

I guess it's what you report, 2 of mine were given attention fairly quickly and fixed.
