Perhaps a problem with the security system itself?

You are probably near a sim's edge and using the Repeat Sensor - use the Timer. This is a known bug with security systems along sim borders.

If it wasn't working properly before, I'd follow some of the above advice (not the obvious advice, because I'd be pretty stupid to post here before doing the obvious now wouldn't I?).
Since I know that it was properly configured and that it was properly working until just a few days ago, I'm guessing there is a land bug. |

Last night I was having some lag issues, and re-logged to clear the cache. Upon return I found 3 sections of the giant zigaroth I built strangly some 70m+ and 20m's higher on the far side not even oppsite the original position lol.
Strange days indeed . |

One of mine did the same thing, but with a twist...
The land was on the sim border and security was set for the parcel only. Which was the only neighbour that got warnings? The one in the next sim, of course. |

So my hippo security system decided that it didn't like my idea of containing it to the parcel, and it started ejecting my neighbors. If this is a sim-border issue, Hippotech has a fix for it. Contact them directly. I had to. _____________________

The offending parcel was not a sim border parcel.
Hippotech recommended that I wait for last nights rolling restart to see if that rectifies the issue. |

Er.. Even if the security thing freaked out and tried ejecting people around the sim, or on another sim, shouldn't SL deny requests to punt somebody not on your land?
edit: a quick look thru JIRA doesn't show anything that sounds like this. Am I missing something here or does this deserve a new SVC JIRA? _____________________

The aforementioned known bug with llSensorRepeat picking up people in another sim, combines with another known bug with llOverMyLand where it can give a false positive if the agent is in a different sim. Put these two together in a security system and it can mistakenly believe someone in their own parcel on a different sim is intruding into your land. Because of these known lsl bugs, the better security systems will include some extra redundant checks, to verify that the 'targetted' avatar is indeed in the same sim and that they are where it thinks they are, before proceeding with an 'attack' of any kind.
A confused system that isn't double or triple checking will send the 'targetted' avatar warnings. However, the actual eject function (and the teleport home function) will not work, as they aren't bugged the same way as the detection functions. So the innocent bystander will get warnings and will get notices that they 'have been ejected', or in the case of the teleport home function, they will get notices of a failed teleport. It is intensely annoying for the innocent bystander, and anyone with a malfunctioning security device should turn the thing off at the first sign of trouble. Contact the creator, and let them sort it out. -Atashi _____________________

Er.. Even if the security thing freaked out and tried ejecting people around the sim, or on another sim, shouldn't SL deny requests to punt somebody not on your land? In my instance, I own both parcels in question. There is also a 4m common land strip in between them that I also own. (This 4m common strip is also along the SIM borders, so none of my rental parcels actually touch a sim border.) The neighbors getting booted and the neighbors booting them, are my tenants. This issue might be because the parcels shared the same name. SL likely changed something to fix searches or parcel joining or something that then made this an issue. So I've added a number to the end of my parcel names and tonight I will reinstall the security systems and see if this fixes the issue. |
