Hi, I'm new here.
Question: I made a purchase on March 6th from a creator/vendor. I know, no names. The payment was taken from my account, but no product was delivered to my inventory. I have dropped notecards to the creator/vendor, and landowner explaining the situation and I included the transaction info. To date, no one has contacted me. Is there anything else I can do?
I have also dropped a support ticket to LL. What can I expect from them?

LL won't do anything about Resident-to-Resident disputes, so if you can't get an answer from the vendor, you're pretty much out of luck.

You may want to IM the creator as well, just in case they haven't noticed the notecards in their inventory. I'm afraid LL won't get involved with this kind of resident-to-resident issue. Good luck with this! I hope the merchant does get back to you

LL won't do anything about Resident-to-Resident disputes, so if you can't get an answer from the vendor, you're pretty much out of luck. Remember, some items come boxed, and those generally show up in the Objects folder, possibly under a somewhat different name than you were expecting. If you know part or all of the product name, try typing it into the search bar at the top of your inventory just to make sure it really wasn't delivered. Also, check your Lost & Found and Trash folders...sometimes things show up there for no apparent reason.

Another possible way to contact the creator is ....
Check SLExchange.com to see if the creator has his items there. If so you can send him a PM thru SLX with the information. Give him every chance to respond, most creators want thier customers to be satisfied. If he does not respond you can say so in a review of his product.

Good call, he does sell items on SLX, but its listed through his partner. So I sent a PM to her as well. When I get back in-world I'll IM them both.
Thanks.

Also.. check your MUTE list.
If somehow, somewhere, you pressed a "mute" button on some landmark or notecard giver of theirs, you will have muted the shop owner!
Once you mute a shopkeeper, you can pay their vendors all day long, but you will NEVER receive anything. You can IM them all day long and you will never hear a response from them. They can even try to send you notecards, and you'll NEVER recieve them, and the odds are good, you won't even know they are TRYING to help you!
So go into your Mute list from the menu: View > Mute List (it's #10)
And see if the shopkeeper's name is there.

Also, if you're in Busy mode, inventory will automatically be declined.

Just once I would like to see a thread titled "Delivered but not Paid". How come it's never borked that way.
"I clicked, it gave me the item I wanted, but it refused to take my $L."

I know this is just my personal experience but I have found that lately when this has happened to me shop owners have been ignoring my ims and notecards. I would say that in the year I have been on sl I have probably had about 8 times when I paid for something that I never received. In all but two of those cases the shop owner quickly and cheerfully refunded my money or offered me the item I had purchased, the last two times it has happened my notecards detailing the problem have been accepted by the shop keeper and then simply ignored. It seems like a very short sighted thing to me as I will never purchase anything from these shop keepers again and warn my friends against purchasing from their shops as well, you'd think that decent customer service is even more paramount in a world where there is so much competition.
I must also add that I think Linden Lab's refusal to help residents address these problems is ridiculous, I certainly understand and support their decision to not want to get involved in resident to resident disputes but in my opinion a failure of Linden Lab's own systems does not constitute a resident to resident dispute. If I use Linden Labs infrastructure to make a purchase and Linden labs Infrastructure breaks down causing the transaction to not go through, then in my opinion, Linden Labs IS involved in that transaction and saying they aren't is completely absurd. Again, that's just my opinion.
The good news is I really think that many if not most SecondLife shop keepers are good business owners that want to make these things right, it is unfortunate that some don't and I guess you just have to chalk it up to be a learning experience and to remember to not support those particular shop keepers in the future.

From: Gabby Handrick the last two times it has happened my notecards detailing the problem have been accepted by the shop keeper and then simply ignored. A couple months back, Linden Labs added a "Mute" button to the Accept/Decline dialog that you get when someone gives you something. A lot of users have gotten into the habit of hitting "Mute" when these boxes come up unexpectedly... like right after TPing into a store.... (in other languages, the button actually says "ignore" . The problem is, this "mute" button DOESN'T mute the notecard giving device. it doesn't mute the landmark giver.. it mutes the OWNER of the device. Check your mute list. It's possible that you accidentally muted the shop owner. The mute would have caused you to "never receive the item you paid for" and would also make it appear that the shop keeper NEVER responded to your thoughtful and polite requests for help.

Good News
03-11-2008 09:50
First, my mute list is empty (as it should be). I dropped IM's to the vendor/creator, and his partner. Today, she (his partner) delivered it while I was online. She apologized for the problem and I got to thank her for her help (again, as it should be). Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? ...and yes. LL refused to get involved.

And I just got an IM (via email) from the creator. He wants to refund my money AND give me the product. When I'm back in, I'll explain its been taken care of by his partner and thank him for getting back to me.

I had the muted problem happen recently. A customer didn't receive an item and IMed me. I IMed back straight away, but she said nothing after that, and I assumed that she'd found the item. The next day she IMed again about it. I IMed back. We were both online and she was IMing me to the point of threatening an AR, and I was replying every time. In the end, I got someone else to IM her, and it turned out that she'd muted me, though she'd know idea how it had happened.
So it's always worth checking.

Okay here's a shameless plug, because I actually built a tool to help me deal with this sort of situation. At the behest of several friends, I have listed it for sale. ComMUTEicator SLExchange Listing: http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=595078Inworld Store: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lost%20Angles/93/93/27You have to be able to get within visual range of the customer in question, but many times this actually turns out to be pretty easy, as the "never received" person is usually still in your store when they IM you.. or at least at one of your vendors. If you happen to be online when they IM you, a quick check can sometimes get lucky. As a side note, you can ask a friend (or use an alt) to tell them to come to your store.. and then meet them there.
