if someone has not paid tier on a sim? Or if its being given up...or if its been abandoned?
How long after non payment to Linden Labs dos it still stand for? Is it deleted so many days after payment is not made?
thanks fai

I think you can get a grace period of upto 14 days if you do absolutely nothing and ignore all attempts by LL to make you aware that you're overdue.
Sometimes CC debits and stuff dont work on due date, so the land is not seized immediately or anything as drastic as that. I believe you get a reminder email, and subsequent ones every 24 hours as the LL account thingy attempts to take the Tier payment from your account.
If the landowner contacts LL the grace period can be extended in some circustances depending on the situation. I know first-hand, where LL have been very good because changes in RL have impacted on the landowner. So there's no hard and fast time-frame when land abandoned or reclaimed goes into the land bank for subsequent re-sale.

The best indication as to the state of a parcel is the state of the owners account.
I stopped seeing someone come around, and got curious so I did some poking.
I found that I could no longer find their account in search. The only way they could be found at all was by inspecting something they owned, or their land, and double clicking their name.
Another way is to join a group with open enrollment so you can get access to the member list. There you can see the last time the owner of the land logged on.
Roughly a year after my neighbor stopped logging on, his property went up for auction. You may be able to accelerate that by making an inquiry to the status of the land.

Ah... one good way to tell if tier hasn't been paid, is if there's nothing but open ocean where all your cool stuff was.

Well I found out yesterday. One plot I had AR'd as a doughnut hole was converted to abandoned land and I was told the account it had been listed as belonging to indeed did no longer exist. I then IM'd the owner of the surrounding land and told them that a certain Linden had informed me that they could buy that piece of abandoned land as long as they continued to own the sides around it. So... - a support ticket or an AR can be a way to find out. But I made the AR over two weeks ago. They've got a lot of work in line ahead of you.

My method works for mainland. But it doesn't always. Some accounts stay active and land gets held even when the owner hasn't logged in in years. Some folks need to pay more attention to their credit card bills.

The Linden didn't tell me how active its account holder was, merely that he was active - so he got to keep it. Plus in his case he was a doughnut, but historic events caused 3 sides of the hole to be owned by different people - so he wasn't a griefer and not a literal doughnut anymore.

When it's surrounded by different people that's a problem. If it DOES get reclaimed, you have to get "i don't want it" notes from everyone else

hmmm. i wonder if the inverse is true when it comes to donut properties. i mean, sure, you have a good claim to an abandoned donut because you have land bodering all four sides. but what if YOU are the donut? i mean, really, all four of your boders are attached to the land surrounding...
