This story from the Toronto Star today mostly focuses on the classical music scene, especially Music Island ...

From the day before, there's also a poll ... "would you or your avatar attend a live concert at a virtual venue?" Here's the link if you want to vote: http://www.thestar.com/article/593589

Intriguingly given that this is a mainstream / old school paper, 70% of respondents had said yes when I voted. (I voted yes, because I have attended concerts, but I'll admit I never even thought of checking out classical music. I will definitely have to visit Music Island soon).

Great piece.

Funny.....the one way in which I have managed to get family members of mine interested in SL is via the music scene. My brother is an exceedingly gifted musician and he was pretty intrigued by the idea of playing live in SL. But his laptop isn't up to it and he's just not that good at follow through (something my entire family shares lol)

But he has said to me many times...."you're ahead of your time little sistah".....and the more articles I see like this one.....the more convinced I am that being a part of SL has been a wise decision. Not just because it's cool and I love exploring & creating....but because the world is changing.....and rapidly.....and being part of a virtual/global community keeps us all that much ahead of the curve.

It's fascinating and wonderful to see what's unfolding before our eyes. As much as people whine and moan about the grid stability.....it's still rocks!

(and hey....remember rotary phones and those clunky credit card imprinters in stores.......and 8 tracks.......haha... like we have ANY right to ever complain ..... the world doesn't owe us this technology....we just happen to be lucky enough to have been alive in the time of it's discovery and implementation.

I think I'll look for classical concerts next time I log in ;)
