Good afternoon,

I have been searching around the forums trying to find a tutorial/post with info on how to stream music on your own land. I haven't had much luck though. Please could somebody point me in the right direction?

Thank in advance.

Provided you own the land (or have the right to play with the Media settings), it's pretty simple.

Get a shoutcast plugin for Winamp (or equivalent player).

Check search for "music streams" "streams" etc. There are many vendors in-world who provide streams for rental - there is one place whose name escapes me who rents out on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis. Most of these providers will offer different bandwidth options depending on how many users you want to broadcast to.

Once you populate the shoutcast plugin with the IP address, password, port number etc of your stream, all you need to do is copy the public URL of the stream into the media section of About Land. Connect, then press the play music button on the UI.

Bob's yer uncle. Unless you plan to stream hip-hop, in which case, disregard everything I said.:)

we if you are wanting to play your own music it is about 4,000L a month i believe.
i believe the guy i use in SL for my server setup whcih is an instant activation is Jamie Otis.
i have used him for more than a year and he is a really good person also.
hope this helps..

Also the most you can stream i believe is 128 bit..that is for any stream in sl ..you can play higher bitrate songs which will sound better in quality but the most any stream will open up to is 128bit.

I'll put some support out there for MuseCast, which is more cost-effective. At about 1400L/month, you can get a stream on either an EU or US stream server. And Ey Ren gives great support too.

Maybe he could find a video to stream on the subject of how to stream music. :)

Here's a music related url from the SL wiki: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/GUIDE_-_Streaming_Audio

and the streaming page from the good old F1 help info:
http://secondlife.com/app/help/guides/streamingmedia.php

here's one on how to use the voice system to stream music into SL:

My club uses neostream for stream rental and works quite well. I'd suggest them.

Cristalle - that was a tremendous shout. I went straight there, and so far, so very good. Cheers! :)
