Its a bit off-topic but what do u all think England will be like in 2012, what new laws will have come about, what new tech will we have and will we still have chavs and areas that police will not enter (for all who arn't here uk has certian areas controlled by mass numbers of kids and young people in burbery, we call em chavs or charvers for the northern folk, dont believe me? read up on it)

I don't see such a great future in terms of freedome for us and every country will have a "great firewall" with each being different (depending on it's laws)

I think the asbo (anti-social behavour order) generation will allot get worse

I think the general look of 'modern' and main cities will be much more bright, there will be bigger and more sings (like in the US), there will be less neon and loads and loads of moving displays everywhere (a bit like central london or new york)

We will have experienced at least 3 major dissasters by then

On a brighter note after the dissasters people will be made to feel safe by the government but know of our impending doom. People will start to stick together and trust each other more. and be ALLOT more giving.

AND as for the big date (21/12/12 @ 11:00) all magnetic polarities will change and what is now north will become south, some electrical equipment will fail and there is chance of another major blackout, this is caused by the earth going up thru the galaxies magnetic plain.

The keyboard and mouse will be replaced by a better system.

Second Life will evolve ALLOT during the summer of this year with more prim torture options, A new material editor will enable real time bump mapping and occlusion mapping.
Basicly a much more advanced material editor. Windlight will get volumetric clouds and we will soon be able to see far into the horizon (using the same system as avatar imposters) adding a much more immersive environment.

by 2012 SL will be touch screen enabled, maybe even fully imersive (not so sure on that tho) and graphics will have improved greatly,

Islands will finally get more prims than mainland sims, prim meshing will be finally implemented and SL will start to look on par with latest games.

What are your predictions for the UK, SL and even the world?

I hope the UK discovers it's own nationally unique and very tasty cuisine. Hopefully based on seafood -- since it's a big island. I've only been to the UK four times, and I wasn't able to find very tasty food anywhere, except in other-nationality type restaurants (Italian, Greek, Chinese, Etc). Lol.

You obviously didn't locate a place that served a quality roast dinner that included a 'proper' Yorkshire pudding on the plate!

The UK does have a good cuisine but it's been lost in among all the foreign eateries.

me thinks it'll be the same as it is now. 5 years is not that far away, and i don't predit much change in such a short time span.... unless they come out with a new hit movie that has a star child actor who looks surprisingly similar to Gordon Brown... that could shake things up.

There aren't, though. Manchester has its issues, but even then there are no "no-go" areas according to the Mancunians I know, and there certainly aren't in London. Perhaps you have been listening to too many bishops.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY.....

edit: Chaos, there's a fun Doctor Who novel that has Bristol in 2003 as a post-apocalyptic wasteland. It's called "Reckless Engineering". You should read it, lots of local colour.

After the war of 2010, US forces are considering a measured pullout, but only when the provisional British Government is strong enough to prevent terrorist forces from crossing the Straight from their stronghold in France and fomenting rebellion.

The Great Wall of Ireland is almost complete.

The Commonwealth welcomes Canada and Australia back as colonies, but vows to send prisoners and miscreants to Germany or Italy this time around in the interest of keeping the morale up in the empire.

The new Industrial Revolution begins when child labor laws are repealed.

The new national language is Esperanto.

Flying cars invented in the US but sales are banned in England because the steering wheels are on the wrong side.

Scientists figure out what the hell Yorkshire pudding is.

Stonehenge sold to Denmark to help retire national debt.

Buckingham Palace turned into the world's most opulent McDonalds.

looks like chocolate pudding, tastes vaguely of beef. Heck, I don't know. Maybe we can reverse-engineer it. Then build a better pudding. A bionic Yorkshire pudding. It looks like chocolate pudding, tastes vaguely of beef and smells like Lee Majors.

I really have to start posting sober.
