Normal? No
Does it happen? Yes.

Usually, by the fourth time, after which you come back ruthed and unable to move, it can sometimes help to reboot your system, especially if those around you aren't affected by such problems.

Moving to a less busy area can also help. (Assuming here you've adjusted your settings to minimize lag as much as possible)

Short answer: It depends.
Long answer: With an adequate PC in good repair and a reliable client, I wouldn't expect it to crash anywhere near that often. I used to get crashes every 30 mins which I blamed on the 'memory leak' issue I'd been told about. Upgrading to 2Mb and going to the Nicholaz client cut this to nearly zero. If I get more than one crash per *month* I consider it a lot, although I still get the occasional disconnect.

There are any number of issues that can cause a PC to crash: overheating CPU or GPU, inadequate memory, inadequate PSU. The SL client, and particularly the release candidate version are especially susceptible to crashes from short memory, AFAIK.

Well the only difference is that I added a wireless router to my desktop so that my laptop can pick up the wireless signal.

When I was on XP: No. I crashed once in a blue moon.
On Vista: Yes. I often crash several times an hour.

Have you the latest drivers? A shot in the dark, but I once had a problem with a netgear wireless receiver causing performance problems on SL a couple of years ago; downloading and installing the latest netgear update fixed it.

For me, there are two kinds of crashes.. the ones that my computer decides to cause with the client and then the one where the client decides it doesn't like me and crashes. The former usually locks up the client and the latter, I wind up with the 'send crash report' as it crashes.

The first kind of crash, I sometimes get once a day and the second type, once a month. Okay, depending on the client and what I was doing at the time.
