I have been wracking my kitty brain over this one for months. I have several items with a pose ball and straightforward pose balls on my land that I have modified (i.e. I've changed the texture/colour of the pose ball).
There are two straightforward pose balls and one coupled with an item where every so often, the texture sets itself to 100 -- meaning it's invisible. I change it back to 0 and there it is again in all its glory. For another few weeks or months... until it happens again.
I'm suspecting it's triggered by a rolling restart or general restart of the region. But I can't figure out what it's doing that.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is someone messing with my walnut sized brain?
Thanks for any input you may have.

I have poseballs that go invisible, but I simply touch them and they return. Never checked to see if they were at 0 before I touched them to make them appear again...

Yeah, that happens. I believe it has something to do with someone logging out without "standing up" first.
Most poseballs are set for voice activated show/hide. Some that are linked to another object are set for a touch show/hide.

Lots of poseball scripts have show and hide commands built in, channel varies but it's usually set to something below 10. Sometimes people get cute and play with that. They can also get stuck hidden if someone happens to be on then things go boom.

Lots of poseballs listen for /hide and /show, or /1hide and /1show, or <insert different channel with same command here> and respond to anybody rather than just the owner. Someone halfway across the sim could be shouting "/1hide" and hiding every poseball in the place. -= Anti's Annoying Party Trick Of The Day =- At a busy club or party with lots of Bits and Bobs dances around, shout "/1sync" at random intervals and watch every dance in the place start over and chat that it's syncing. edit: damn, too slow edit2: don't really do that trick above, it's truly annoying.

popular channels for poseballs hide/show/synch commands that I've seen

Anti that trick only works if the club owners are not using the dedicated club sets which dont allow others to command them, the club versions were made this way especially because people do what you suggested here.
But then if you make owner only listens you get complaints from the owners partner etc that they cannot command them if the owner is offline, so its a no win situation whatever.

Bits and Bobs : channel 1 Risque : channel 9 Abranimations : channel 7 I believe
whenever I want to show or hide them all, I have to do the quick: /1 show /5 show /7 show /9 show
I had a set that was set to channel 0 but I don't like using them because they add to lag. (any script that listens on channel 0 is constantly running and listening/waiting for a command....not a wise idea)

lol oops. I think I am one of those annoying users who hide every damn poseball sorry. I didn't realise it hides it on everyone's screen (simple really, don't know why it didn't click) I just prefer the look without them. I guess I won't do it anymore then lol.

One possibility is to just pull the anims out of the poseballs and make your own. With coupled poses it's trickier: the poseball script has to know how to do sync, at least, and off the top of my head I don't know of a public-domain poseball script that does that. (It's not terribly tricky, and not all that precise anyway, but necessary.) The nightmarish ones are the sequence-of-anim poseballs: getting those timings correct can take a lot of trial and error. And there are some that do whacky stuff with controls ("Press PageUp or PageDn to change animations" ; those require another rather aggravating bit of scripting. But straight, single-animation, single avatar poseballs are readily replaced with public scripts, with the result of having uniform control over all of them at once. With a little more scripting, you can add whatever level of "group-restricted" access you want.

If it is happening when you are not online, I would think that it is just someone using your poseballs when you arent around. Set up a simple visitor counter near them and check it when you log back in. I use a gesture I've set up that says all the common channel show/hide commands at once, ie: I say "/hide" and the gesture rattles off "/hide /1hide /7hide /8 hide" etc ... same thing with "/show" It makes it much faster and I dont have to even bother trying to remember what set uses what command. Of course, in certain settings, saying "/show" makes it seem like I am suddenly inside a gumball machine

Is there any chance you'd share that gesture? I'd love to have it!

Thanks everyone... giggle. Great feedback.
My home is everyone's home -- neko shinto shrine. So I don't hide anything and these pose balls need to be visible (or otherwise people don't know the cute things they can do -- especially at the hot spring). They're also singles, so no linking needed.
Just had a thought. I have one of Craig's bathing couple balls in the hot spring with two constantly vanishing balls nearby so I don't think it's someone messing with them so much as a problem when they're unsitting or with the script.
So I'm going to rip the pose out of the ball and make my own non listening, simple script ball.
Thanks!

Craig, I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I was having a go at your products - huge fan here. Syncing is an excellent feature and I understand why owner-only listens don't really work for poseballs that by their nature have more than one person using them on a regular basis. I use the same commands and same default channels in the products in my own humble shop, for the sake of compatibility and so people don't have to remember a different set of chat commands. The "trick" I mentioned is just something I did accidentally at a party full of friends *salaams rather too much and mumbles "I am not worthy" a la Wayne's World*
