Hey all, I'm sure this topic has been beat to death at one time or another, but as a "newbie", I'd like to know some of your favorite/best places to go. I've been trying to use my imagination in the search looking for new places to go, but in lots of them there just isn't alot of people there, or it's quite boring. I guess I don't have a favorite place yet, but I've been to just about every dance club there is(I think)looking for people to talk to or something to see. Thanks for any ideas!

What are some of your interests? That will help making recommendations.

I tend to get a lot of ideas from Snapzilla... that is, http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/. When I see an interesting looking or especially beautiful place there, I note down the location,so I can go there myself.

I'm pretty much interested in just about anything...SL seems to be a great place to see the world on a budget and without leaving your house. I guess I'm just looking for ideas, I enjoy the music, seeing different parts of the world, and talking to people that are capable of having an intelligent conversation, yet have some fun. I'm not sure....what else is there to do that I am missing? What should I be searching for?

The Garden of Da Vinci. IMO one of the best, perhaps even the best build I have ever seen in Second Life. The detailed architecture including the entabulatures and ceiling and wall murals for the various buildings is impressive, and there is much to see above and below the water and all over the sim. I recommend clearing your cache, going to the center with and rotating around every few minutes to render the area as fullly as you can at the optimal draw distance for your computer and then hopping into the Da Vinci copter to take the tour, then hop out and check out things that caught your fancy. After that you can take a seat in the rocket to Mars and enjoy an Epcot Center like ride from earth to Mars and explore the Mars colony.

Destination Station on Corona Cay

Try the Destination Station on the Corona Cay sim. They have links there to a lot of interesting places you can visit. If you join the group, you can also set your home to there.

We had fun at Bedrock. Also at Greenies. Go to the Rezzable website to find more about their builds, always worth visiting.
Gypsy Moon is another we like. Chakryn Forest, though it may have disappeared by now.
Sightseeing opportunities are almost limitless, just type (in Search) the name of a famous monument and see what comes up. That way we found the Alhambra, an amazing build.

I use the search button at times. For example, I search on events with a subject of discussion, no keyword. I have learned of some groups that way.
However, too often the search results, particularly if not limited to the discussion subject for events, is full of spam. Without checking the "mature" button there are many sex related areas come up on a place search.
I am often involved in political, religious, or professional discussions that I find out about by word of mouth (or word of keyboard).

I have been advocating the several Costa Rica sims over the past few months. They comprise a lot of sims and you can go scuba diving and rafting, or explore volcanos and rainforests where you can find the occasional monkey, lizard, jaguar, or even a fairly convincing anteater while wandering around. I like to start with the canoeing area at Volcan Tenorio (96,102,22). Bring an umbrella.

Just wanted to drop a quick note this morning to say Thank You! to everyone who has offered their ideas on this thread and everyone who dropped me a notecard last night while I was inworld. I had a wonderful time last night and went to several different, amazing places and I have several, several more to go and visit. Every new place and new person I met last night was amazing, now I'm seeing what I've been missing! I learned a few things last night on adjusting the view controls and the advanced menu...which was great and made the experience even more amazing....however I did go a little overboard on messing with the character controls and messed up my avatar, but I'll have to work on that tonight....I know what I did, but I haven't been able to fix it yet.
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you to everyone!
